Todd Winbigler's Online Review Report Card

I cannot say enough positive things about Dr Winbigler and his entire staff. I was recently in Boise for a soccer tournament when I had an eye “emergency.” I recently had PRK surgery in Denver but have had complications from dry eye literally ripping the top layer of cells off my cornea. It occurred while visiting Boise and it is excruciatingly painful. I checked for optometrist “near me.” The first one I called had no availability. The second could get me in 6 hours later. Dr Winbigler’s office, on the other hand, said come right over and they would fit me in given the urgent nature of my situation. When I arrived, the staff were friendly and very empathetic. I couldn’t see to complete the paperwork so they asked questions and completed it for me. The doctor cleaned the debris from my eye, and put a protective lens over the abrasion. Before I left, he offered his personal cell number in case I needed him later that day and made time to see me again the following morning. That is what I call SERVICE! If I lived in Boise, he absolutely would be my eye doctor. Thanks again Dr Winbigler and staff!

Dr Winbigler was so kind and thorough! He explained everything he was doing and was easy to talk to about my concerns. His staff is very professional and helped at every question. Definitely would recommend Dr Winbigler.

Dishonest sales practices.

I finally left this doctor after three-plus years of horrible tearing/red eyes. Dr Winbigler said I had the worst case of allergies he had seen, and kept prescribing Patanol year after year, which was a very expensive medication for me. I had no relief. I finally made an appt with an allergist, who, after a comprehensive test, told me I was allergic to nothing -- and that I had chronic dry eye. He suggested Systane drops. I had relief by the end of the day. That an allergist diagnosed my condition rather than an optometrist kind of floored me. I came to find out that everyone I know who goes to Eastgate Optical is prescribed Patanol. Hmmmmm. I was also oversold the benefits of Transitions lenses by an optician. She told me there would be no coloration indoors- they would look like regular lenses.. Not true - they had an amber color. I was DONE. I found another SE Boise provider, and was also pleased to see how much more affordable the frames were. I paid over $400 for frames & lenses at Eastgate, and spent less than half of that for equally stylish frames. I wear glasses all day every day.
