List of John Q Smith's Reviews
After more than 3 years of nearly unbearable pain in my knee I went to see Dr Smith. I was honestly expecting for it to take months to get me on the schedule for surgery but within 3 weeks I had a brand new knee and was already on my way to recovery. He is professional, personable and empathetic. It's very difficult to find doctors that possess all three of those traits. Within the next year I will be having my hip replaced as well, and there is no way I would have anyone other than Dr Smith perform my surgery.
My elderly mother was seen in ER for 2 broken ankles. Right ankle was mis-diagnosed by Dr. Smith as not even a sprain and later diagnosed as a break. It may require surgery. The left ankle later required surgery as it had not been immobilized. It now requires two surgeries. I am beyond disappointed and quite angry about this mistreatment.
Doctor was knowledgeable, concerned, compassionate. Explained things very well. Front office staff rude, bad customer service.
Dr. John Q. Smith met with us on June 17 and recommended a neuro test from an outside provider. After two weeks of not hearing from anyone, I called West Idaho Orthopedics back and left a voicemail. No one ever called me back. One week later, I called a doctor at St. Luke's Orthopedics and got him in immediately, a correct diagnosis was made, and surgery was scheduled. Then I got the bill and I spoke to the billing department on July 13 to share my experience. She explained that they didn't have an office manager and apologized for the poor service and would call me back regarding a discount on the bill. I.never.heard.back. Today I received bill #2 and called to inquire about a discount since they didn't follow through on their word for the third time. I explained that I'm happy to pay for some of Dr. Smith's time but I don't think it should be the full amount because of numerous failures within their system. The billing person hung up on me while I was still speaking.
Started with insinuating alot of injury was due to degeneration and arthritis. and stated even though had no trouble before accident that it was just a matter of time .. his reported that he was pretty going to provide the most minimal of care and that I would still be in constant pain after surgery ,but nobody would be responsible. Made some inappropriate comments almost comparing me as older damaged goods that was not worthy of a new knee . Was extremely disappointed and upset after leaving the appt and decided to immediately request to see a 2nd physician because I felt I would be handicapped the rest of my life if I allowed him to treat me surgically . .
This doctor seemed nice during my appointment, outlining the best way to accurately diagnosis my pain. However, instead of following through and getting an MRI, he agreed to the insurance company's decision for more physical therapy knowing I had done PT before. His staff was nasty, he never returned phone calls and his contact with my insurance company almost blocked the MRI which did show the cause of my pain; This doctor never sought an accurate diagnosis. He does not care.
I have been in a lot of pain since I had a knee replacement done 4 yrs ago by a different Dr. Dr Smith diagnosed my problem as a worn out hip causing pain elsewhere in my leg. We did a total hip replacement 3 weeks ago and I have had very little pain since.
Smith did a good job on my new hip = been four months now and the pain is just an ache - still can not put my sock on or tie shows and bending down is difficult but making progress
Dr Smith was very helpful in deciding the best solution for constant knee pain. we started with a shot, then an MRI discovered a torn meniscus, so we decided to operate. everything went smoothly and I was impressed at the speed of recovery. less than a week to get back to nearly 100%. I highly recommend Dr Smith and his staff for your orthopedic needs.
Dr. Smith was not only very professional and knowledgable but very kind and patient. He always took all the time I needed to answer my questions. I never felt that I was rushed through his office. His staff is also very kind and courteous. I would choose Dr. Smith again if I had to have orthopedic work done.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
