List of MIchael T. Daines's Reviews
Dr. Daines replaced my hip May 12th. Back to playing golf regularly in late June. Totally pain free. Great overall experience.
Update 11/30/2021 Much of the pain is back so things didn't go as well as hoped. The office staff is slow to respond and so far has failed to follow through each time I've called. Already had one steroid shot in the knee and now Dr. Daines is recommending another one. This is not a solution. Its a band aid. Appears the only way to talk with the doctor is to pay for another office visit. What has happened to the concept of a doctor calling his patient. 5 stars to 2. Repaired a meniscus tear. Been in pain for years but recently it was severe. After surgery I feel great. No pain after 3rd day. Back in the gym by day 4. Nice guy, sensible, efficient and honest. Thank you.
Dr. Daines was knowledgeable and kind. He performed a Rt knee replacement on me(45yr old male) in 2021. Instead of immediate rehab, his team did not arrange physical therapy for me with any urgency. 3 weeks post op was my first appointment and by then scar tissue had developed. This limited mobility and required a manipulation under anesthesia. They force the joint to flex and break up the adhesions and scar tissue. My knew knee that I waited for since high school sports is absolutely junk. I can't work and struggle with simple tasks like stairs. Additionally, post op and in great pain, I was unable to reach anyone repeatedly to request pain med prescriptions. There were sleepless, sweat filled, restless nights full of pain and moaning and all I could do was leave messages on the nurse line without call backs. It was torture. Now I am worse than before surgery, out of work, uninsured and receiving bills for the "out of network" services and personnel that they will not discount
I went to Dr. Daines for 2 years, we had to change insurance, his office personnel had been difficult at best over the 2 years, I had put up with them. Until we changed insurances, the office decided I needed a referral, I told them I would pay for the cortisone injection, no, have to have a referral, yadda, yadda. Went to get a referral, that office said that is not true, decided to change doctors, that office said I did not need a referral. So . . . if you want to be lied to by office personnel, treated with no respect, treated like you are a pain in the office staff's rear end, go ahead and go to this office. There are other great offices with just as good doctors in the Boise Valley, choose wisely, office personnel do matter.
I went to Dr Daines when I lived in Colorado I can not say enough good things about him! He also operated on my MIL and it was a complete success and she has brittle bones. His gentleness and bedside manner is with a kindness and compassion. Now I go to his brother In Arizona and he is a carbon copy. You want a amazing Dr and surgeon I highly recommend him.
I saw Dr Daines for extreme pain in my left shoulder. He diagnosed me with Frozen Shoulder Syndrome and gave me some sort of injection. I went back about 4 weeks later, he wanted me to go to PT but I could not afford that and they were aware and gave me exercises to do at home and told me to come back if was was not better. I need to go back as I am in bad pain but I don't have the money for my $40 Copays and they refuse to schedule an appointment for me until I can pay my co-pays. I am on SSD and have many health problems and am extremely strapped for money. The staff in billing that I have dealt with have had no empathy, no patient concern and are very brusk. Very rude staff.
I would, with NO doubt, recommend Dr. Daines to ANYONE I know or meet! I can't say enough positive things about this awesome person whom I am so very thankful I met. Everyone in the office cares about you and are very concerned about your health. I have never waited over 10 minutes to be seen and always get a call back on the same day I leave a message. As for Dr. Daines, I have never been so thankful to find as awesome of a doctor as him. During the first few minutes of talking to him about my shoulder issues, I knew for a fact that I had found a very intelligent, caring doctor whom was sincerely concerned about my pain. He is always jolly and tells the best jokes. But, the best thing was : He doesn't give you the run-around, he gets the job done. He said he could fix my issues with surgery...and I know some of you are thinking: OH, NO WAY. I'M NEVER HAVING SHOULDER SURGERY!!! I'VE HEARD IT'S HORRIBLE. Well, trust me. It's not that big of a deal. It ended my pain. I feel great!
Dr. Daines is the most excellent doctor. In every way. Skill. Ability to diagnose. Explanations. Time spent with patient. Outcome of surgery. I went through several doctors before him and each misdiagnosed me even though the MRI showed the abnormality and impingement. He is 5 stars in every way. The only negative is some of the office staff I'd rate Zero stars and caused some issues for me after surgery.
Dr Daines is one of the best in the US. He replaced my knee and my hip- I just wished I would have had him do it sooner
Dr Daines treated me like the athlete that I am, a 3 time Olympian, still pursuing sports. The other Orthopedic surgeons would only treat me as an older woman, telling me to just accept my age and my injuries. Thank You, Dr. Daines, for getting me back to where I should be!!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
