List of Meghan Shutte's Reviews
Well some of you will be interested to know that Ms. Shute was sued on multiple occasions for malpractice and who knows what else. If you look her up on the CA medical board there is a list of issues including a felony. She is now treating people in prison. Guess what- she is even worse now because they cannot go to another provider. Everything that people have shared here is still how she treats people. But now they are suffering greatly due to her negligence. Don't ever see this person as a doctor or otherwise. One of the worst people on the planet who enjoys making people suffer.
I met with Dr. Shute for a regular physical/wellness exam for the first time last week. I arrived right at my late morning appointment time and was called into the exam room after less than 2-3 minutes. She was very professional and helpful, providing advice relevant to medications I was taking, vaccines, a minor injury, nutrition, and overall health. Dr. Shute checked in about what other doctors I'd seen to make sure I was on schedule with any follow up. She ordered the blood tests I needed and let me know which labs I could use and how to prepare for the tests. All in all, I was very satisfied with my visit. I've had doctors who were condescending, impatient, distracted, dismissive, etc. and I understand how frustrating that can be. We need more doctors as helpful and professional as Dr. Shute. I don't write a lot of Yelp reviews, but after seeing the low reviews on here I wanted to report that my personal experience with Dr. Shute was quite positive.
I just left my visit with Dr. Shute and wanted to post my experience to date. When I initially met with Dr. Shute, I was a little reluctant due to the numerous bad reviews. I decided to be the judge for myself. After my initial visit, I walked away with mixed reviews. I felt some of the comments were substantiated, while others were not accurate per my interaction with Dr. Shute. I decided to continue to see Dr.Shute because she possessed the best quality of all. HONESTY. Everybody is different about how they handle honesty. Also the way the message is delivered and received varies to each individual. I came from a strong family of women who did not mince words, So I was OK with the delivery. I could see how someone without a similar background could feel differently. Remember Dr. Shute is not a concierge at the Wynn hotel. She is a respected medical physician whose job is to ascertain your issue and diagnose. Fast forward to present Dr. Shute has reduced my BP from 175/125 to 120/80. She also diagnosed arthritis in my hip and I was able to receive treatment as well. Today I feel like a new man with a new found respect for the medical field. Dr. Shute you are a MIRACLE WORKER!!!! Like my grandma used to say : If they talking about u , you must be doing sumthing right, When they stop talking about you, that's when u better get worried.
Let me be clear, there's a reason why you can get an appointment with Dr. Shute so quickly, versus other doctors at the same practice who are booked 4-6 months out. Reviews from others sum it up: she is dismissive and short with you in a way that comes off as indifference rather than brevity. I can appreciate being succinct, but when you are blown off for health concerns by your DOCTOR it doesn't feel great. I only am giving 2 stars because the staff who checked me in were so nice, but I was disappointed by the doctor's demeanor.
Oh boy. Dont go!!! Look for another provider. Of course most of Sutter Drs are bad, don't care about the patent.
I had a pretty bad experience with Dr. Shute. She was not particularly friendly. I didn't feel like I was being heard at all. She was cold and abrupt most of the visit. At one point she said she didn't think I had pneumonia. One of the main reasons she didn't think so was that I didn't have a fever. When I explained that for some reason I never get a fever and gave her the example of when I was a child and had severe tonsillitis and didn't get a fever, she said she didn't think I had pneumonia because I didn't look like it! Seriously? I didn't look like it? I am only giving her 2 stars and not 1 because there were a couple of moments it which she softened and acted warmly. Other then that, it was a terrible experience.I also thought her asst. was even worse. She didn't smile even once. She was also abrupt and really unfriendly. When Dr. Shute left the room, she told me to wait and her asst. would bring in the paper work. I waited 10 minutes and the asst. didn't come in. I had a friend who was waiting to give me a ride home, so I just walked out. There was the asst. sitting at the desk. As I walked past, she handed me the paper work. She had left me sitting there for 10 minutes without coming in to hand me the papers. I am never going back there. I now know why she was the only Dr. to have an opening that day.
Horrible place business. Their app ended up taking me to telegraph in oakland not berkeley and not since arriving 2 min after 815 I cannot be seen. I fought with them on Friday about even keeping my appointment and now this. Even tried to call the phone number listed but it doesn't reach the dr. office, ...just the call center and then they hung up on me after 6min on hold. This place is a joke and the dr. along with it.
WARNING: STAY AWAY. I would strongly recommend finding another doctor. It's unfortunate doctors these days are so indifferent and unconcerned with well being of the human they are seeing. I would strongly discourage anyone from seeing SHUTE. I had a skiing accident and needed to schedule a follow up appointment upon returning home. I was unable to see my doctors so I schedule an appointment with the only doctor that was available, Michelle Shute. She was callous, unconcerned, and seemed like an amateur. Refused to take my vitals or look at anything until I drove to another location for XRays, which were already provided to her by the ski resort urgent care. Without going on and on, I was charged $322 for a 5 min conversation with Shute. I would STAY AWAY.
I saw Dr. Shutes twice and both times I felt unheard and misunderstood. It saw her for about 7 minutes each time. I had had a series of losses from my partner of 22 years dying a slow very difficult death, my mentor of 26 years passing away, closing my business, etc. I was temporarily on anti depressants and needed a new prescription. She diagnosed me with major depression. I am no longer on anti depressants but I cannot get her diagnosis of me off my chart. I tried to speak to her which she wouldnt do and I tried numerous avenues to get it changed but hit the beauricracy wall. It was a very bad experience and I am happier now With a different doctor.
I agree with others who say they don't understand why Dr. Shute has so many low reviews. I saw her for a routine physical and found her very professional, competent, and courteous. She was direct and didn't waste time with chit chat, but that's fine by me. I would go back. She did a much more thorough and attentive exam than my son received recently when he had a routine physical with another doctor.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
