Alton Memorial Rehabilitation And Therapy's Online Review Report Card

My mom was there for a month. This facility appears to be seriously understaffed. Most of the staff were friendly, but patients waited endlessly for assistance. Those that didn’t ask, were mostly forgotten. The care was minimal. With all of the services and activities that the facility says they offer, I didn’t see any activities, or efforts to engage people in life. I’m horrified to see the way our most precious loved-ones are treated when they are at their most vulnerable.

My husband had been hospitalized for 7 weeks. He was sent to this facility. They worked hard to get him to come home as little as 2 1/2 weeks. Very grateful to the staff.

I went here after a complete hip replacement last May and loved it. I'm experienced with many different places because my parents were in and out of so many. Dad said he was on top of the world here.

Do not send your family members here! Alton Memorial Hospital and Bethesda Medical Group should be completely embarrassed! Dirty, dark, old and unprofessional are the best words to describe this rehab and therapy location. 5 weeks of cold food! The daily meals are actually prepared at the hospital and transported by vehicle to this facility. By the time it’s delivered to the patient it is cold! 2 baths a week max if they can find the responsible personnel to do it. Push the button to get assistance with transferring from wheelchair to toilet and your loved ones will have to wait 45+ minutes so plan accordingly. Rarely was a receptionist at front desk so plan on letting yourself in with a code. The 5 handicapped parking places are usually full so plan on parking in rear and walking around. My 85 year old mother had to do it multiple times when she went to see my father. The beauty shop/barbershop is also closed so he never received a haircut either! The State of Illinois should close this place down. PT was the only department that seemed to care but you see them once a day. Research a better facility folks!

A family member is there for support through cancer treatment. The staff is very engaged and helpful. They listen to his changing needs and proactively work to help him as best they can. He was in a different Bethesda facility in St Louis post surgery and there is no comparison! Alton Memorial R+T is smaller but is clean and bright. Maybe it is the smaller town feel that makes the difference. We are very happy with the care. Thank you!

HORRIBLE!!!HORRIBLE!!! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY...I would give this place a 0 star...A CNA helped my mother to the bathroom and left her for almost a full hour no one would answer the nurse call a man passing in the hallway heard my mother yelling for help he helped her off the toilet...This is totally UNACCEPTABLE!!! A CNA almost ran my moms foot over with a wheelchair she was pushing her down the hall and her feet were under the wheelchair dragging the floor .. AGAIN TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE I was standing at the other end of hallway and seen it myself...That did it...I immediately took her from this nightmare facility...my mom was there for 1 and 1/2 days to long..my heart sinks for all the other patients in the place that has no family to stand up for them..I will be contacting the state of Illinois ..

Avoid this place at all costs. My grandma went here and my mom got her out after 2 days. My grandma was left on a toilet for an hour with no help. A CNA just let my grandma's feet drag on the ground in a wheelchair and almost ran her foot over. She was not being monitored at all even though she was on oxygen. Don't let your loved ones go here. My grandma is doing better at my moms and getting care she needs.

Short handed staff. Let's employees bring their kids to work with puppy. Does not respond to call light. Instead of changing her underwear they but another over it. Fell 3 times. Had to have x-rays everytime. 3rd time got 4 stiches in her forehead. Not a 5 star like they say. Hiring an attorney for abuse.

After being in 3 other rehabs this facility is the best care my brother has received by far. The nurses and assistant's are very kind to him and never complain about how much care he needs he is a double amputee and needs special care, his rehab is excellent and we are expecting him to excel in their care so he can come home soon it has been 2 years. I would definitely recommend Alton Memorial Rehab to anyone.

My Aunt is at the Alton rehab center and we came in on 7/31 at 11:48 am and my Aunt is still in bed. When I asked why she said they hadn't gotten her up yet. When I asked her aide why she stated that she was the only aide assigned to two halls and she was getting to everyone as quickly as she could. This is why I did not want her here, the care has been inconsistent including treatment for her lymphedema. I have had to come in and wrap her her legs myself because the nursing orders have never been written correctly.
