Dr Love has been my doctor for the past 8 years and I would highly recommend him

My entire family has been seeing Dr. Love since 1994 when he was starting out in the field of family medicine, that is 27 years. I had just married/moved to the area, had no local doctor. The rest of my family sees him or an associate now. His schedule is usual open enough that a same day appt can be scheduled if need be or they squeeze me in or I can see his associate if it is a pressing manner. I expect to remain with him until either I leave the area or he retires, whatever comes first. The entire staff at this practice are top notch and many been there for as long as I recall. They all know me by name and my medical history which in this case is a blessing. I would give 6 stars if I could.

I went to Dr. Love because I was having bad leg cramps at night. From the moment he entered the room, he was downright unfriendly. It was really odd and I didn't know what to think. He stood in the doorway and gave me a really nasty look and it went downhill from there. (This was the first time I seen him.) Not only was he unfriendly to the point of being downright nasty, but he was arrogant and argumentative. Then he wrote a prescription for quinine (the drug used for malaria). I asked him how long I would have to take the medicine. He responded that I would have to take it for the rest of my life! I mentioned this to my daughter who was, at the time, the director of two major departments of a large hospital in Chicago. She informed me that prescribing quinine for leg cramps was a very bad idea. After a little reseach, I learned that it had long been known that quinine could cause permanent hearing damage if used for that purpose and, in fact, it had damaged my mother-in-law's hearing when she had been prescribed quinine for leg cramps many years (decasdes) ago. I then asked my pharmacist about this and he told me that not only had quinine NOT been prescribed for leg cramps for many decades due to the damage it was known to cause with hearing, but that he wouldn't fill such a prescription anyway and he wondered why a doctor would even think of prescribing quinine for leg cramps with what is known about the damage it can cause to hearing. That usage had been stopped many years ago. It's lucky that I didn't listent to Dr. Love but I wouldn't have gone back to him anyway because of his bizarre unfriendliness. If anyone is interested, just check out the article on Wikipedia about quinine and see all the side-effects it can cause. Clearly, quinine should only be used for conditions where the benefits outweigh it's very serious possible side-effects and leg cramps don't fit into that category. I was going to cut & paste that info here but there's so many side-effects that this review would be much longer than it already is. After reading it, it makes me wonder why any informed and responsible doctor would prescribe it for leg cramps. As for the leg cramps, my wife told me to just take some magnesium and potassium supplements. I did and the cramps were gone in a couple days and have never returned. I don't know if it was the supplements or if the leg cramps just stopped on their own. But, if I had listened to Dr. Love, I would still be taking quinine pills (if I could even get them because, from what my pharmicist told me, no responsible pharmacist would fill such a prescription if he or she knew it was for leg cramps) and my hearing might be damaged. I just noticed something interesting about the three other reviews here as I write this: One of the "reviewers" is from Dr. Love's medical group. In that "review" he's thanking someone else for a positive review and he's giving a 5-star rating even though he's not reviewing Dr. Love or his medical group. That distorts the overall rating.

No pun intended, but I love Dr. Love! He's super easy to talk to and does a great job. Would recommend him to anyone.

The worst!

Dr. Love is such a caring and careful doctor. He is a great gift! I am fortunate to have him helping me monitor my health.

Our whole family loves Dr. Love. He's a good man and a great doctor. He's been our family doctor for well over a decade, and we wouldn't dream of going to someone else.

Excellent Saturday morning visit with Dr. Love. Very good listener with excellent, understandable feedback to questions asked.

Dr. Love has been our family doctor for 15 years. Over those 15 years he has shown great care, compassion, knowledge and expertise which can only come from years of experience. We trust him completely... highly recommended!
