Refused to provide adequate pain medication after surgery regardless of how much pain the patient is experiencing.

He took my issues seriously. He got me into surgery fast. He and his staff cared about me and my outcomes.
Dr. Hoeltgen takes the time to discuss and show that he truly cares about his patients. I came with a ton of questions and he never once showed that he was annoyed or didn’t have time to answer them. The main reason for not giving 5 stars is due to the fact that he checks his phone and text messages constantly while in the middle of a conversation with his patients. It’s not good bedside manner to be checking your texts while talking to patients. Never okay to be on your phone while talking to anyone.
This man rushed me through my appointment and was extremely condescending throughout. After looking through some of these reviews it’s apparent this is common practice for him.
My journey with bariatric surgery began with my referral to Dr. Hoeltgen. From the very beginning he was honest, informative and reassuring. I was immediately at ease with Dr. Hoeltgen. Through the entire processI have received excellent care from all staff while I’m in their care. Mary is great and very atentative .
His staff was great! But the Doctor was horrible. Cuts you off when your talking, doesn't seem to care about your concerns. If I could only handle his testicles the way he handled my breast, he might think again. He's rude and ruff and definitely unprofessional. I would never recommend him. Spent about 3 1/2 hours of my time (leaving work, driving there and back ) to get around 5 but less than 10 minutes of his time. To be told to get a 2nd opinion. Don't waste your time, he does not care.
I have seen an incredibly large amount of doctors and never felt as dismissed and unimportant in my life. The staff was so kind and respectful so I assumed the doctor would be as well. He spent maybe 2 minutes with me and didn’t even fully examine or ask questions. I wouldn’t send my worst enemy to such an uncaring doctor. I’m fat, yes, but I’m no less than a skinny person and the fact that he specializes in bariatric care makes his care even more callous. Can’t teach empathy in med school
After Surgery with Dr. Hoeltgen, his care was abyslmal. He seemed to not care about the troubles I was having with complications after my surgery. Even after going to the ER due to said complications, he told the ER staff to release me even after my problems were not resolved. The office staff were rude at times when trying to communicate with Dr. Hoeltgen and both Dr. Hoeltgen and his staff lies to my face regarding his decisions.
Dr. Heoltgen performed gastric bypass weight loss surgery on me four years ago. Four years later I am still down 112 pounds and I owe it all to Dr. Hoeltgen. I literally feel like a got a "do-over!" I have never felt so great and I am beyond thrilled with Dr. Hoeltgen's expertise and bedside manner. If you are giving any thought to taking control of your obesity, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Hoeltgen and gastric bypass!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
