List of David L Mitchell's Reviews
Dr. Mitchell is probably one of the best family MDs you could ask for. What he lacks in warmth he more than makes up for in patience, knowledge, and a true desire to serve his patients.
Wonderful doctor. He has helped me reduce the amount of medications I was on (found out I was overmedicated from previous provider). I love how accessible he is. He responds to emails promptly. Ignore any negative reviews. There is no pleasing some people.
Dr Mitchell is wonderful. He doesn't lecture or belittle his patients He tells you your options and makes you a part of your treatment. He listens to me, I like that.Andrea McManus
The best MD you could have for your family ! My entire family sees Dr Mitchell! We have been pleased for years !!!
The review stating this practice is all about the Co-pay is entirely accurate. I saw Dr Mitchell for approximately 3 years and am Type I Diabetic for over 30 years. Dr Mitchell refuses to provide refills on prescriptions so you MUST come back to the office for another visit. During COVID, I needed a refill for insulin and had no acute issues. He demanded I come to the office in order to get insulin which I have been using for 30+ years. He claimed this was b/c he needed to adjust my dosing, which he had NEVER done (nor did he even know what my doses were). He also claimed I would "probably be fine" because he hasn't seen a COVID case in a while (thanks for that reassurance!). I said if it is so important that he sees me, then we could do a tele-visit due to COVID. His response was he does those but MY insurance wouldn't cover it so he refused. I said if he is going to hold my prescription hostage over billing my insurance, perhaps I should find a new doctor and that given the COVID situation, this was borderline unethical. Ultimately he gave me a SINGLE refill and made me schedule another appointment, which I cancelled for personal reasons. A week or so later, I received a letter stating I should find a new doctor. Real stand up guy...he will next reply to this and claim something about my health and needing to see me (which would be a HIPAA violation) and that he had to see me for that reason, when my condition only slowly worsened as his patient, and he NEVER said anything until I didn't want to risk going to his office during lockdown, then it became an issue. You also can't understand him when he speaks as he talks very fast, he spends about 50 seconds with you at each visit, and does everything he can (eg labs) in his practice so he can bill you for that too.He also uses student nurses (eg FREE HELP) to the max extent possible. I don't think I have ever been to his office and NOT had a student nurse, which they sometimes ask if you are OK with on the spot, sometimes you don't get a choice - which again supports the assertion this practice is about one thing....minimizing their time/cost for you, getting you in and billing you, and moving thru as many patients as possible. All about $ here.Look elsewhere if you want a real doctor. If you like going in to the office and having your insurance billed for nothing, this is your guy!UPDATE RE OWNER'S REPLY: Prior to the last appt, I had never once spoken with Dr Mitchell on the phone. Nor was I rude to his staff though he likes to play that card in responding to reviews on Google to justify his poor practice. His answering machine specifically stated his office was doing tele-visits due to COVID. This was the 6 month appointment so his points about not being there in 6 mo are misleading (Feb 2020 was last appt for which my insurance paid over $200, this appt was July 2020 - so really 5 months). The statement that I do not care about my health is baseless and a personal attack on me. The truth is quite the opposite in fact, in that I did not want to go to the office due to COVID when there was no acute issues and Dr Mitchell *insisted* I come to the office and "would probably be fine" (direct quote). Note Dr Mitchell refers to "free care" which is the point in my original review - he is all about collecting $ from patients. Thanks for proving my case!Anyone considering this doctor should visit his website and see how outdated (and strange in my opinion) it is, or look in his waiting room and see how sketchy it is. Inside you will find a floor mat taped over the reception counter, surge protectors plugged into other surge protectors (hey OSHA!), and Mac computers from the 90s (G3 Macs were discontinued in 1999 - think your health information is secure?). He has edited his response 3 times since this was posted and continues to add defensive, untrue info to defend his wrongdoing. Not sure why he thinks I need free care? I make 6 figures and have excellent insurance. Never got anything free - one script? Nice try though doc.
My family has been going to Dr Mitchell for many years. When we started it was just him and 1 office person. He is a hands on doctor that is very involved in his practice. He has added student nurse practitioners which I think is great. One of them told me that they all love working with Dr Mitchell because they learn so much. He doesn't over schedule so the wait time is never long. He will take his time to address any concerns you have. I highly recommend him.
I’ve been going to Dr. Mitchell since I was young and he remembers conversations we’ve had years ago. He genuinely cares about his patients and it’s very knowledgeable and takes time to educate you on the situation.
Best Family physician ever! Dr. Mitchell took care of us while we lived in Belleville, and remains the most caring, thoughtful, and open doctor we've ever had. Short wait times, thorough explanation of procedures, and genuine care and concern is the norm at this practice. Highly recommended!
Love Dr. Mitchell! Always there when I need a last minute appointment and goes above and beyond for his patients.
TOP DOC, highly recommended! Been going to Dr. Mitchell for several years, great with diagnostics, referrals, prescriptions, and on-site labs. Always friendly, quick, and thorough, great staff assistants, easy to get appointments.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
