List of Edward-Elmhurst Health Center-Bolingbrook's Reviews
I can't find a way to formally complain about a physician so I'm putting a review until I'm heard. After almost 20 years of trial and error emergency medication I find one that works, Dr. Shah without knowing anything about me, takes me off it and puts me on a medication I've never heard of and said I will have to go to someone else if I want what I know works, then she stormed out of the room as if she was getting emotional about defending prescribing something I've never heard of over something I know works after almost 20 years of trying different medications. Because of her unprofessional emotional state and invalidation, I'm scared to take this medication she prescribed without explanation. It was messed up, unprofessional, and if some pharmacy is paying her to push these medications it's unethical. This review will remain up until I can formally write a complaint to the head because mychart doesn't even understand the word
This Urgent Care location is considered a hospital by many insurance companies, and as such, you'll be stuck with a massive bill even if you simply speak to a doctor in an office (no special testing or imagery).
I was initially referred to this location after the imaging services at my original location of 75th street were closed for the day. Unfortunately, my experience here was less than satisfactory. I had to wait for a long time, and when I approached the counter to let them know I could no longer wait, I found four staff members casually chatting. When I mentioned I needed to leave, a guy ask me how long have you wait? I told them a long time and the one of them responded with, "It’s only been 56 minutes," in a dismissive tone. While I understand I wasn’t in extreme pain, waiting this long isn’t acceptable, especially when the facility wasn’t even busy. I did not appreciate his sassy respond, like it’s normal waiting that long !!!
I don't know what I would do without having this facility to go to. When my doctor was out of the office for two weeks, I was able to walk in to the Edward-Elmhurst Immediate Care in Bolingbrook and was taken care of right away. The staff responded to all of my questions and were extremely professional and helpful. Over the years, I and my family have used this facility several times and are thankful for them.
I'm not in a habit of writing reviews unless I have something nice to say but this time I'm making an exception because I was extremely unsatisfied. We took our 13 year son in this clinic with whooping cough and fever and he was seen by Joseph Baez, PA. He was very inconsiderate with poor bed side manners. He seemed to be rushing and he didn't seem to care at all what I had to say about my son's health situation. As a matter of fact I felt that my questions and remarks were annoying him. I mentioned that my son was allergic to Penicillin and that certain antibiotics like Azithromycin haven't helped him in past and his pediatrician avoided prescribing it for that reason. I wasn't trying to teach him his job, I just wanted to inform him and help him make the right decision. His answer was: "Your son is getting Zpack and some other antibiotic, take it or leave it". I'm aware that my review will not make any difference or have any effect upon him considering that he already has 7 one star reviews and very negative written reviews on Healthgrades and Sharecare and he is still practicing. However I just wanted to get it out of my chest and suggest other parents to avoid him if possible. To be fair to the clinic, we were taken in a timely manner and the nurse Michelle that gave us the discharge papers was very kind and friendly as a medical professional should be. At least we had some positive experience at the end to partly justify the bills that are about to come.
1 star because as a patient when you are billed from this facility in Bolingbrook, they are using outpatient setting codes and if your insurance benefit level is only a copay for urgent care/immediate care visits, it does not apply here. You are getting billed for hospital/outpatient services. Since they label themselves an immediate care facility, I was expecting to have only a copay of $40 for this visit and instead turned out being responsible for the entire bill, getting hit with my deductible and co insurance amount instead. I’ve called other local immediate care facilities and they code it differently, office visits vs outpatient setting. I would have paid less going to the emergency room than going here. Very misleading, I’ll never go back here because of this.
From the moment you walk in, to the moment you leave, the staff are all excellent! They are kind, thorough & you can tell they care about your wellness. Won’t go anywhere else!!
Completely incompetent. Worst medical experience.
Firstly I want to say I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place if you truly care about your health. Cons: This healthcare facility is EXTREMELY transactional. Everywhere you look there’s signs telling how every single question you ask is pretty much billed as a separate visit. I appreciate the transparency but just sounds horrible when you want to address concerns with your physician. If you don’t know how to advocate for your self, just go ahead on over to web MD and start self diagnosing cause you’ll be better off. As a NEW patient in search of a PRIMARY DOCTOR, I felt like no real relationship was attempted, the physical somehow lacked the actual physical , and the appointment was RUSHED. After my visit I sat down and read the visit notes and was instantly concerned. I realized that questions and test that should be standard weren’t even acknowledged. Things I wasn’t even asked about were incorrectly entered, test I requested weren’t order, and very little details were given about how to follow up with my concerns. When searching for a new physician, I believe you have to establish trust and feel as if your health is a priority, and I didn’t get this during my visit. Pros: There’s no long wait times before seeing the physician. You are able to get labs done the same day in the same building. You’re able to get results and ask questions on my chart.
The service is fast, nurse Carol is courteous but the nurse practitioner Adam Spurlock has a kind of bad attitude, he just knocked the door, looked at me sternly “What made you come today” didn’t even introduce himself and greeted me good morning, I guess he needs to have good training how to treat patients. Not a good experience, it will not even lighten your symptoms rather making it worse!😢

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
