List of Jalaal Shah's Reviews
dr. shah oak orthopedic paul v curtis - disabled veteran.. our care is pathetic at the va i didn't think it could get any worse!!i am a disabled veteran who had malpractice done to n a hip at hines va hospital. i went to oak orthopedics in 2017 and saw dr vanderbour who was great. i told him the screws the va put in were too long and digging in my hip socket every step i took. this happened in 2006 so 11 years later after fighting for veterans to get help outside the va was finally able to do!! who wants to go back to the same place malpractice was done? i'll give you a slight idea what i've been through. the va put my hip together wrong then gave me 4 methadone a day and 6 norco a day to cover up shoulder replacements needed, hip replacements needed, neck and back surgery and have been like this over 14 years. the pain as you can imagine with this many surgeries needed is intolerable however when trying to get outside help in 2020 the va cut off all those meds abruptly with no weaning,ni substitute!! methadone is synthetic heroin!! where do you go to replace?? well i did exactly what anyone else would have to do. i had to buy on the street. i was 9 years sober at the time! i had a house with low interest rate on va loan. 65 k diesel dodge ram...750 credit score and 80-100k worth of rare coins put away for my son. i left illinois to try to get help at any va because it was costing me 8200 a month to replace those meds. this went on from february 2020 until october 2020 when i finally got enough meds at dallas va to come back and after over 200k later spent to come back and get meds here since dallas gave me and to save the house. when i got back the same doctor wouldn't give me the meds and a day later got a new doctor but took over a month to get. meanwhile in between i went to oak again and saw dr shah. he said i needed to get prescibed meds which i was trying to get but couldn't and told me to come back once i did. i was dirty on a drug screen to f course because i still didn't have va meds. 3 weeks i into getting the proper meds back went back to the follow up appointment and he wouldn't do surgery because of the one drug screen when i first got back. he told me to go back to the place that did the malpractice and has left me with 6 needed surguries and left like this over 14 years. pathetic! i wouldn't go back here and have surgery done if it were free. my last little bit of hope to finally get fixed after over 14 years left like this GONE! IM DONE TRYING.t!! I WAS FORCED TO USE STREET DRUGS TO STAY ALIVE BUT JUDGED BY A DOCTOR WHO LIKES TO PLAY GOD. He refused to do surgery because when I first got back had the street drugs in my system because I wasn't getting the meds I was supposed to be getting from the VA. Never did heroin in my life until I was cut off the Methadone. Told me to go back to the place that did all of this to get surgery done. I gave it a good shot fighting the VA all these years. I'm done fighting.
This time last year I was in constant pain because of my right knee. I was referred to Dr. Shah for a consultation and from that day on have felt better mentally and physically. Dr. Shah is not just an excellent orthopedist but a caring physician able to explain to my understanding what needed to be done. I had a "Total Knee Replacement" with the surgery performed by Dr. Shah and I feel marvelous!! I would highly recommend Dr. Shah for any orthopedic problems interfering with your daily life. He will listen to you and provide the best of care.Jo Price
Last July during a basketball game I had a patella tendon rupture. ER team immobilized my left knee confirming that surgery was necessary. I was looking for having the surgery ASAP in order to be able to fly to Italy in August. Dr. Shah saw me 3 days after the injury scheduled my surgery the following week. Dr. Shah walked me through the details of the surgery procedure and helped build my confidence that everything would work out so that I could go on my trip. I had my surgery on July 19 and I was released the same day; 6 week later I flew to Italy. I had a very clean surgery and the fact I was able to communicate with Dr. Shah by email was very important for me. After I returned from my trip, I started my therapy and am now fully recovered, fully able to bend my knee. Thank you Dr Shah!
Don't be fooled by your first impression and Dr. Shah's initial serious demeanor. He clearly cares about people and takes each persons injury as a serious matter. That being said, he's like a prize fighter during surgery and the coolest guy ever post surgery. My shoulder and bicep were a disaster. He did such an amazing job, I'm convinced he gave me my life back. Couldn't do anything then and now I'm completely back to 100%. He's amazing surgeon and and great all-around person. I highly recommend him!!!
I became Dr. Shah's patient for the first time at Torrance Memorial ER in late January when I literally thought my life was completely f@cked due to my injury. From the beginning he was my advocate and made decisions that were in MY best interest i.e., he had me admitted and scheduled surgery for the following morning rather than being sent home or to transitional care as suggested by a physician on duty. The surgery went perfectly and I am so thankful that Dr. Shah was on duty that day. From injury to full recovery, Dr. Shah and his staff have provided consistent stellar care. Hopefully there aren't any more injuries in my future, however if there are... I know where to find the best care =)
I brought to see Dr. Shah. I was able to book the appointment within a day. The wait tine was minimal. The doctor offered great bedside manners. He was able to treat my aunts hip. I would recommend Dr. Shah. His office staff is very nice.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
