Kowsika Movva's Online Review Report Card

I switched to her because my doctor was out of the office for various reasons when I needed to see him. Dr. Movva right away got my blood pressure under control and has worked with me through various conditions. She and her office monitor the messages I send them and respond in a timely manner saving me time on the phone or a trip to the office. She has helped me reduce my prescription cost several times by adjusting that while getting my asthma under control. She has a great nursing staff and I hope she sticks around a long time.

I thought it was just me til I read so many reviews that expressed exactly the same experience I had. Staff was nice but Dr. Movva seemed to have no tolerance for anything but short answers, to the point of talking over me when I was trying to get to the point of why I was there. Twice I asked for clarification on something and it seemed like it made her mad. I'm not a medical professional so when u come at me w/ jargon I have no idea what you're talking about. She seemed to want to push certain tests & didn't really seem interested in my symptoms. I left feeling not heard, & really upset. I also don't process information well in the moment so it takes me a while to get it. A written explanation of what we talked about would've been good. The directions on lab work were also vague & I wasn't told it should be fasting. + I'm not going to sit in a lab that doesn't take appointments w/COVID going on. I will get my lab work sent elsewhere. Don't mean to be mean here but It wasn't good.

Extremely rude and inconsiderate! Did not let me speak and made me feel like I was a burden. She did not even send my chart over to labs to get blood work done after waiting there for a hour. I have never felt so uncomfortable leaving a doctors office or so defeated. I had seen her before and she was never like this. Maybe it was just a bad day.

Dr Movva was condescending and combative. She rushed me and spoke over me multiple times while I was trying to ask more questions and get familiar with warning signs for my new diagnosis. I also found out later that she made notes in the chart that she had discussed my obesity with me, which was actually never discussed. None of the recommendations she put in there made sense (a calorie-defined diet that was lower than what adults are supposed to eat, to start Slimfast and to "use stairs instead of elevators"). She did not ask me about my nutrition or exercise once, so her recommendations were insulting and could limit the quality of care I receive in the future as a fat person because of her assumptions. She needs to research medical fatphobia and trauma-informed care. I also watched her turn away a nearly 90 y/o patient & his caregiving daughter who had driven hundreds of miles THROUGH A STORM to be seen because they were less than 15 minutes late. She has no compassion.

I truly liked the other employees I interacted with at this office, but I just can’t bring myself to give Dr. Movva a good recommendation. She was very abrasive, and I felt that she was talking down to me throughout the appointment. I am a student and will not be in Carbondale for much longer, but I will definitely be seeing a different physician. While competence is the most important quality I am looking for, I cannot see a doctor who is unfriendly towards me and I would imagine most people feel the same-seeing a physician is already invasive and unpleasant enough on its own.

If I could give less than one star, I would. Absolutely the worst doctor I have experienced. Can't really tell if she cares if you live or die. Certainly not willing to help when you are in excruciating pain. AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU WISH TO LIVE!!!

Really careless about patient welfare.

I saw Dr. Movva in late July to establish care as I am new to the area. I explained my symptoms that I had been experiencing for the last few months. She was incredibly dismissive and would frequently talk over me as I was explaining. I asked to get some basic lab work done to make sure everything was ok, she said I was "probably fine" and didn't need lab work. She suggested I just lose weight. I wasn't even 4 months post-partum at the time, of course I needed to lost the baby weight but that was not why I was there. I was not happy with this response and I scheduled a visit with another provider outside the SIH system. I received my lab work back from the new provider and I have hyperthroidism. If Dr. Movva would have cared to listen to me in the first place, I could have been diagnosed months ago rather than being miserable for the last few months.

Dr. Movva is an excellent physician. She is kind, knowledgeable and down to earth. Very easy to talk to and never makes you feel rushed. Her staff are very good with patients. I am happy about the almost zero wait time compared to the previous doctor. Overall I am very pleased with the experience.
