List of Alpesh A Patel's Reviews
I wouldn’t recommend Sr Alpesh Patel to my worst enemy. He spent the entire time undercutting any prior physician’s opinions given to me, including a Harvard fellowship trained surgeon who fixed my back with a perfect result. Even said his opinions were garbage. Says a lot about him. Very unethical Doctor and person. I wouldn’t believe a word out of his mouth and I wouldn’t trust him at all with my life for spine surgery. Stay Clear if you value your life!
STAY CLEAR! Dr Alpesh Patel has the worst God complex I’ve ever seen and absolutely no reason to. He’s the most unethical Doctor ever, undercutting every prior Doctor and radiologists opinion I’ve received prior. Including a Harvard fellowship trained spine deformity surgeon who previously fixed my back. Really says a lot about him when he speaks negatively about other physicians. He told me his surgeries have a zero percent chance of success, I couldn’t believe it!! Most surgeons will at least say fifty, not Dr Alpesh Patel, he gives himself a big fat zero! Everything that he said was a blatant lie! No other Doctors opinion was valid at all, only his. Very disturbing to hear. Extremely unethical and uncaring person. I would not send my worst enemy to Dr Alpesh Patel! Stay clear if you value your life!!
Knowledgeable, professional, compassionate, responsive. I did not feel rushed and had plenty of time to ask all of my questions. Highly experienced, skilled surgeon. His management of my complex problem is the reason I am functional and without pain today.
I had such a complicated situation for him and his team to deal with. And they did such an amazing job! I believe from my experience he is the best! I would send my mother to him!
I can not recommend Dr Alpesh Patel highly enough. I suffered for years with debilitating cervical back and nerve pain that extended to my extremities and severely limited my ability to work, socialize and complete activities of daily living. I was disabled and without hope when I visited Dr Patel. He is a caring surgeon who sits closely to listen and looks you in the eye while explaining complex medical issues clearly and pragmatically. He patiently answered a million questions. I went into my multi-level ACDF surgery with guarded expectations due to the prolonged nature of my symptoms. While the recovery process is ongoing two months post surgery I am already pain free. Dr Patel has given me my life back. If you are suffering like I was do yourself a favor and visit Dr Patel. He is a brilliant and exceptional surgeon but above all compassionate! My family felt safe throughout because of Dr Patel and his amazing team. If only I had been able to get the surgery years ago!
Dr Patel and his entire team (PA Jeremy Lavra, nurse Linda S) provided me with extraordinary healthcare. I came in complaing about persistent pain and numbness in my arm and hand. Now, two months after cervical fusion surgery done at NW, I am back to my full range of motions and activities without any symptoms. It’s not only the advanced technology, but an ability to listen, understand , explain and communicate that really sets this team apart from others. I would highly recommend Dr Patel!
Couldn't as for a better Doc!
I saw Dr. Patel about a month ago for severe leg pain radiating down my left leg, refractory to more conservative treatments. I was so impressed with his knowledge and demeanor and when he told me he could operate 6 days later, I was so relieved. I left his office feeling great about his knowledge and skills. I’m 3 weeks post-op and I’ve never felt better. Such easy recovery and looking forward to getting my life back.

When did doctors lose their compassion for their patients? After many years of suffering debilitating back pain, I live everyday at a 9 out of 10 on the pain scale, another physician referred me to Dr. Alpesh Patel. I had visited another spine surgeon at Rush a year prior, who told me my pain was coming from herniated discs, and I would need to do pain injections, though she said she didn't think they'd work. I went to Dr. Patel hoping for more insight, and brought him a copy of my MRI from Rush. You are seen by a nurse and a doctor in training before you actually see Dr. Patel, and the student doctor is the only one who does an exam. Everyone spends maybe two minutes total with you. By the time Dr. Patel comes in, he's talked to his staff and viewed your MRI outside of the exam room, so he's already made a diagnosis before he's even seen you. He comes in to tell me he thinks the herniated discs are probably just from age (I'm 35), so they likely aren't the root of my pain, and that I probably have a muscle strain somewhere. He never explains where exactly. He's already rushing out the door as he says it. I stop him to ask more questions, as I don't think it explains why I've been in this severe of pain for so long, but he says it's certainly possible. He tells me a nurse will be in to refer me to a pain specialist, and he leaves, basically with me in tears because nothing was answered. I get it, maybe I am not a patient who immediately needs spine surgery, but I am a human being in severe pain. The fact that he never even pretends to care, and rushed me out the door, is unforgivable. I deserved better. Since then, I have gone to an AMAZING surgeon at Illinois Masonic who actually spent a half hour with me listening, caring, and talking about the things he thinks it could be. He has ordered additional tests to be done, and is on top of it. I truly wish I would have gone to him first instead of wasting my time and money with Dr. Patel.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
