American Dental's Online Review Report Card

I’ve been on government assistance insurance since I was a baby, until I was about 24 or 25 when I finally started taking care of myself. I’ve never had worse dental care than I’ve had with American Dental. It’s crazy that the government subsidizes dental care, but it’s actually better than the dental care I’m paying for now. The lack of personable care or medical decorum at American Dental is completely unacceptable. I feel like a dollar amount, not like a patient. I’ve never had as much discomfort with my teeth as I do now, and I feel disrespected almost every time I go to their office. Whether it’s the Grand in Fullerton office where the dentist is too busy to actually show any interest in her work or the Fullerton location where they only have one orthodontist who’s booked back-to-back without any consideration for the patience time, I’m changing offices completely! But this whole experience has been really eye-opening. Be cautious do your research!!

Great care under Dr. Marxer with prompt/kind staff. Had several appointments at the Grand office all of which went smoothly and according to the dental plan that was comprehensively laid out for me.

So professional, great teamwork, personable and fast. Great, no pain root canal, gum surgery and crown work. Couln't ask for anything better!

I had some work done recently which required several visits. I can't say enough good things about the staff and Dr. Marxer and Lucy, in particular, who treated me with a great amount of care and professionalism. I'll be going back!

Went to get my teeth cleaned at American and Dr. Marxer did a wonderful job! Helped answer my questions and cleaned my teeth. Jackie was super sweet and helpful with the process as well. Will definitely come back!

Absolutely stellar experience! Every appointment I waited less than five minutes before I was in a chair. The staff was kind, patient and highly communicative. Dr. Yaseen did an amazing job and handled my fears of dental work with such care. Very appreciative of the staff and office. Highly recommend!

Used to really enjoy coming here - well-organized, clean / modern facilities and equipment, really convenient location, generally people are quite friendly (why I'm rating 2 stars, not 1). Old dentist I had for ~1.5 years here was Dr. Arroyo, who I thought was amazing. Super nice, did a great job, thought she was super fair with her recommendations and never felt like she was overly pushy on services / procedures that were unnecessary. For some reason Dr. Arroyo unexpectedly left, however, and then when I showed up to my next semi-annual appointment, was assigned a new dentist, Dr. Ruiz, with no heads up. She tried pushing a ton of things on me - more x-rays when I had already just gotten some done through the same practice a couple months before, then what was crazy was her saying I had to get 8 cavities filled / old fillings replaced, which seemed nuts as somebody who in the last 10+ years had never had more than 2-3x at a single appointment, and usually none. Got a second opinion and the crazy part is they said I had a SINGLE (super mild) cavity and all the others identified would've actually been unnecessary and long-term bad for my teeth. To go from somebody saying 8 needed to be done to just 1 is crazy - this is why some dentists have a bad rep.

Fraudulent billing practices. The office will tell you that services are covered by your insurance and then you will be shocked when you receive an invoice for the full amount. If you go here, always contact your insurance company yourself to confirm services covered because THEY WILL LIE TO YOU. Fraudulent and unethical behavior from the offices to the billing department who refused to rectify the “frustrating” situation. You’ve been warned.

Excellent service from all staff over many years. Regular visits for teeth cleaning, monitoring for gum health and potential cavities has helped me maintain good dental health. Highly recommend.
