List of Big City Optical - Lincoln Park On Clark Street's Reviews
of all the Big City Opticals, I would drive to this one even if it is further away just because of their customer service. every time I walk in I am greeted with a smile and someone eager to help. with multiple exams and glasses purchases, I can easily say there is no place I would rather go than Big City Optical in Lincoln Park.
I appreciate that this location has Meta Ray Ban glasses to try on, but the store manager definitely gave me bad information and almost cost me hundreds of dollars. He pulled up my vision insurance information and confidently assured me that my plan would give me a nice discount on the frames and totally cover the lenses. But, he said, they wouldn't submit it to the insurer -- I'd have to pay upfront and submit for reimbursement. Fortunately I didn't take his word for it -- after calling my insurer, they said I didn't have smart glasses coverage. Rather than the $750 reimbursement he'd assured me of, they said they'd reimburse just $150. Considering they don't take returns, I'd have been out a surprise $600. So again, nice location with great selection, but be careful when it comes to insurance here.
I had a great experience at Big City Optical's Lincoln Park location! Dr. Isaac was really great, and the front staff were so helpful. I am notoriously bad at picking out new frames, but Rudy, Ola, and Summer were so knowledgable about their stock and patient with me as I tried on half the store. Highly recommend for both the exam and glasses selection experience!
Came here for a routine eye exam. The lady at the front was very kind and made sure I felt comfortable for the appointment. The doctor was also amazing! I can't remember her name, but she was very professional and explained everything for me. Now, I don't usually write reviews, only when I have exceptional or horrible experiences. When I walked out of the appointment and went to the front the male employee was checking me out. He was describing my prescription and the difference in frames and I asked how much it would be roughly. When he told me, I responded and said I would need to think about it and also confirmed if the price was after insurance. He immediately shut off and got aggravated at me. I could tell the whole room shifted when I simply said I wasn't going to buy (computer reading) glasses at that very moment...he then went on a tangent about the difference between prescription and drugstore readers to me, all the meanwhile I just stood and nodded (yes I know the difference..). He was clearly very upset that I wasn't going to buy reading glasses for $200+ right before the holidays. He then charged me for my visit and did not say goodbye or have a good day. I have never experienced such a thing. I felt like he was only there for the sale and genuinely was angry with me for saying I needed to think about it. (These glasses were not life or death for me). The level of disrespect and overall uncomfortable feeling from him, leads me to never come back. Working in CS myself, I could never fathom acting like that to a customer who doesn't want to make a purchase. It's unfortunate because it's convenient for me and the doctor and lady at the front were SO nice. But it only takes one bad employee to ruin an experience.
Rudy was excellent! I went to get some non-prescription sunglasses and the time and effort he put in to helping me find the right pair was absolutely above and beyond. So much care and expertise. Don't think about it, just go. He'll take care of you!
My eye exam was very thorough. In fact, it revealed things about my eye that no one had informed me about before. The equipment is also very new and advanced. Speaking of the frame-selection and fitting process, I couldn’t have had a better facilitator than Rudy! He not only has impeccable taste, but he also has the patience of a saint. This was honestly one of the best eye appointments I’ve ever had, and I’ve been going to the eye doctor since I was in second grade. I can’t recommend them more! :)
Got my new optical glasses here & Rudy did an amazing job! Appreciate Dr. Angelina Popovic’s consult & guidance. Thank you SO much! Received so many compliments.
Dr Isaac, Rudy, Ola, and Eli helped me get my first pair of prescription sunglasses. Special thanks to Rudy for doing a rush job on my 2nd pair of glasses which I had to unexpectedly get after my original pair broke.
I had an eye emergency and Big City Optical was able to squeeze me in the same day. Dr. DeLee was extremely thorough and attentive in addressing my concerns and went out of his way to provide great care. He was also knowledgeable in area specialist providers. Would definitely recommend Big City Optical in Lincoln Park!
I was thinking of coming here but when I saw the review of how you guys treated Mary Shakley I will never come near that place.
