Best optometrist I have ever seen.

Absolutely the best eye doctor in Chicago located in East Lakeview! Hands down! I’ve had my eyes checked at other places and he was able to thoroughly evaluate my eyes and get everything right. He has a sweet and calm personality and the staff is nice too. So happy I can see out of my glasses:)

Let me add my own words of praise to all that's on the internet about Dr Banser. As others have said, he is an outstanding optometrist and a very kind and thoughtful person. If you live in the neighborhood of his office at Surf and Sheridan, I strongly recommend going to him for eye exams.Not only is the eye exam very thorough, but Dr Banser goes way back with the group of ophthalmologists and retinal specialists who practice at St Joe's (right across the street). This is very reassuring and convenient in instances where the eye exam turns up problems of deeper concern.I haven't bought glasses from Dr Banser's shop since it became "MyEyeDr" instead of Lincoln Park Eyes. The transition to being part of a chain was initially rocky, but, when I was there recently, the office again had its customary calm and welcoming feel.

He is a wonderful doctor and person. I appreciate having him across the street from me. He is gentle and kind.

Dr. Banner is the best optometrist I have ever experienced. He is exceptionally knowledgeable, patient, and personable. I've had very poor eyesight since childhood and am now facing more vision complications as I reach middle age. After several not-so-great attempts from other eye doctors over the last five years to get my contact lenses and eye glass prescriptions correct, Dr. Banner was able to do so after a very thorough and patient-centered exam. I visited Dr Banser because my former OD was now out of network and I wanted to take advantage of my insurance savings. The situation turned out to be such a great advantage. Dr Banser and his office was not only convenient to where I live and was in my insurance network but his expertise and affable personality was above and beyond my expectations. His office staff was extremely helpful in telling my exactly what my costs would be and in ordering my daily contact lenses. Dr Banser's exam was a delight with his clear and thorough explanation of what was happening with my eyes. He even helped my vision immediately by telling me I was wearing my different strength daily contacts in the wrong eyes for years. LOL. I would strongly recommend Dr Banser if you are seeking a first or new OD.

So very disappointing. I have good eye insurance, but yet walked out with over a $400.00 tab because I didn't follow my "gut" on what I needed. Ummmm simple reading glasses- that was it. The Dr will talk you into progressive lenses, which I learned is quite costly, and if it doesn't work, you do not get a refund. They automatically add something called varilux coating as well as anti-reflective coating. Neither is necessary, but you get snookered. It's their way of making money- so BE AWARE. I am miserable that I believed in this place, and won't come back again. Sure they are fixing my glasses to be basic reading glasses, which will take even more time, but I truly should've believed in myself instead of believing in the Dr.Just Don't do it. Dr does NOT know best. My basic readers from Target will be sufficient enough and save me loads of cash.

I stopped going to Fred because of the offensively patronizing mannerisms of some of his staff.

If you are looking for a great and professional ophthalmologist, stop and go see Dr. Banser at Lincoln Park Eyes. He is extremely friendly and patient, you'll never feel rushed and Dr. Banser will address all of the concerns you might have. I can't find enough kind words to express the positive experience I have every time I go there, Dr. Banser is simply the best!His staff is pretty awesome too!
