LOVE IL RETINA!! Special shout out to Dr. Chaturvedi, Dr. MacCumber and Dr. Khan(Orland Park location). My father had a retinal detachment that needed emergent surgery and they were amazing. So kind and prompt with their care. I refer my own patients here so of course when it came to the care of my dad I knew where I would want to send him. The staff as well were great especially Jen. Cannot recommend them enough. My patients always have glowing reviews as well. Best place for retina care!
Thank you to IL Retina Associates for bucking the anti-customer trend that is pervading the medical profession. When you call IL Retina, a HUMAN answers the phone, can answer your questions, and can deal with whatever issue you have quickly, pleasantly, and effectively. So, kudos to Dr. Maccumber (who’s an excellent retina doctor) and his partners for not succumbing to the despised automated phone tree, or worse, as other practices I visit, not answering the phone at all. I would also be remiss in not recognizing all the excellent office staff at IL Retina. Good work!
Tried reaching out from another state trying to find the best care I can possibly get in the country. They didn't even bother to call me after receiving my referral to tell me they won't accept me. Absolutely astounding they won't take out of pocket regardless of situation and equally astounding they don't even care to reach out to the people trying to contact them.
This specialized doctor (for a previously unknown but long existing retinal detachment) was recommended by my optimist. He evaluated my situation (in a down-to-earth way) and determined a minimally evasive solution that could be completed same day. He is approachable, open to conversation and questions. I could not be happier with my results. (Upon revisiting my optometrist multiple people who examined my "problem" eye remarked upon the lazer work and how well it was executed.)
Dr. MacCumber is great, professional, knowledgeable, and always courteous. I always appreciate the level of care and attention to detail he and his staff and other doctor provides.
Good experience as a patient with a retina tear, but God forbid you need any follow-up care. A year after treatment for the tears, the surface of my eyes started to experience some sudden strangeness. As an existing patient, I expected some priority to get in and at least have an expert take a look and make sure the situation wasn’t emergent. After multiple calls, they kept giving me referrals to outside doctors. One turned out to be a med spa and failed to return calls all week, the other is retired and has an outgoing message that says “don’t leave a message”. I don’t expect every specialist to do everything, but don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to have someone take a look at your eyes a year after treatment to be sure you are not about to go blind or something. No one cares anymore. Disappointed.
I am only giving this place 3 stars based on the amount of TIME I had to take out of my day for my appointment. My appointment was at 12:50pm. I arrived at 12:35pm, and was seated in the waiting area. The next step was a 5 minute evaluation for sight reading. Seated again the waiting area. Then another 5 minutes taking photos of your retinas. Seated again in waiting area. Did not see doctor until nearly 3pm, nearly 2 hours after my appointment time. I have no complaints about the doctor, I think the practice does a great job overall. But the wait time is ridiculous. At about 2:15, I overheard a patient ask the reception how long the wait was, and she replied, he is just seeing his 12:40pm patient now. If they are going to make you wait this long, then they should make you aware either before you arrive that the doctor is running late or they should let you know upon arrival. I have a job as well, and made sure I wasn't late, yet there is no consideration of your time. I would highly recommend having an early morning appointment to avoid the afternoon lonnnnnnnnnnngggg wait.
Considerate and caring staff, doctors that take the time to explain what’s going to happen and why. Appreciate them so much!
This clinic operates like a well-oiled machine. Everyone was friendly, efficient, helpful from the moment I walked in and at the several "stations" I passed through for the various eye exams and background-information gathering. A special shoutout to Victoria for her kindness and patience. Most highly recommended.
If you can tolerate the poor business service, the clinical side is good I guess. I like Dr. but One year after surgery to reattach retina which is still intact except my eye is off centered now and I'm told a new surgery is required to correct. I will hav to be a little cockeyed until I can afford it again.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
