List of Lawrence Kaufman's Reviews
He is a great specialist.
I was so happy for my son Mark when doctor Kaufman he did eye surgery excellent result for my son he have cross eye both thank you doctor so much was 2018
I'm actually really shocked by all of these bad reviews. My wife and I have a 13 week old daughter and we recently noticed that one of her pupils is typically larger than the other. After seeing our pediatrician, she really urged us to see a pediatric ophthalmologist ASAP to rule out the possibility of a tumor causing the issue. We called around to a few referrals and Dr Kaufman's office was the only one that could get us in quickly but after reading some of these reviews, we were a little nervous about the appointment. With that being said, this was an overwhelmingly positive experience! First, the staff was super friendly when scheduling. Then, when we arrived for the appointment, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had parking so that made things much easier. The office staff was quick and efficient as we were seen within 5 minutes of checking in. Dr Kaufman was super kind to our daughter. He was soft spoken and gentile with her and he was thorough when explaining the various aspects of the exam to us. After dialating her eyes, we had to go back to the waiting room for about 30 minutes but we were promptly called back in for the remainder of the exam (so, no extra waiting around as if we had been forgotten). Seeing that our daughter is only 13 weeks old, she has limited patience and started to get fussy. Dr Kaufman was sympathetic and quickly completed his exam and reassured us that there's nothing wrong with her. He asked us to come back in 3 months for a follow-up and we'll happily be there. Overall, Dr Kaufman was very kind and gentile with our infant daughter and we'd be happy to see him again.
My kid needed an eye surgery and it went great! We have been visiting Dr Kaufman for the last two years, great experience although wait time sometimes was long but that is normal when you deal with kids and have a lot of patients.
Hes not so nice and doesnt know how to speak to children even though he's a children doctor.
Received a notice from my son's school nurse to make an appointment for my son. This was my son's first time seeing an eye doctor. We had to wait a bit, but when dealing with kids, that's to be expected. The doc had quite a few patients, but was very thorough with my son and he answered all my questions. His assistants and the ladies at the eyewear shop next door were awesome as well. So happy with the experience! YEY!
EXTREMELY unprofessional and pompous! I waited 45 minutes for him to finish an extremely inappropriate personal conversation with a woman about his wife and her family. He did in front of me even, and he had other patients waiting. He made me late to my next doctor’s appointment, so I had to reschedule that. When I asked him, “Why would you have such a personal conversation for so long when you have patients waiting?” He said, “I don’t know what you’re looking for, but I will not negotiate with you. I can’t help you if you can’t get past your personal problems.” He is very unprofessional and his whole manner was tacky. In the end he offered nothing of medical value to me at all. The whole experience was an exercise in futility. If I could give him less than a half a star I would.
Waited 20 minutes to be called back. His bedside manner was lacking consideration for time management and his approach with my 11 year old was not met with compassion with the concerns my son had when he would put different tools right in front of his eyes. Kids just have questions that need to be answered so they can be at ease. That's how you build trust. He gave little warning to spritzing him (even though he said they were eye drops) for dilation. After that, we went back to the waiting room for '30 minutes.' which turned into 45 minutes. Again, no regard for time management. My son's eyes were sensitive after being dilated, but when my son would tell him how much the light hurt, he just told my son that he's fine and it's just a flash light. Dismissive. Very dismissive. I left (with his prescription) and got home and realized they didn't write the PD. That's normal. No place does. You have to ask for it. Places either fight to give it to me or nave no issue giving it to me. It's a mixed bag. Well, I called Kaufman's office and they refused to give it to me. I asked to speak to Kaufman about it. He also refused to give it to me. He told me that it's just not something that they write down. Even though I know they did it. I mentioned that to him and he confirmed that yes, they do it, but (again) that they don't write it down. And he was laughing about this (apparent) absurd request I was making. He mentioned that if I asked him how tall my son is, then he wouldn't know. I don't see the correlation between that and his PD at all. I told him I know my rights and that I will report him. He told me to 'go ahead' and then he hung up on me. I just want anyone to see this to beware of the lack of professionalism and bedside manner.
Please do not take your kids to this place, the worst customer service ever. These ppl need to learn how to smile and show good attitude so kids would feel more comfortable. Dr Kaufman please stop giving toys to kids and then take them away from them, my poor daughter thought he was giving her this little animals, she was happy and then he took them away, you should of seen her face... We were told to wait outside for 30 min, instead we waited 50 minutes. Just not happy about this visit...
Went to this Dr. For my 4 year old daughter. He was rude and very dismissive of my concerns about her eyes. After waiting for a long period he rushed through my appointment and provided no information on what he was doing or to make my child feel comfortable during the exam. I then expressed my concern about how strong her prescription was and can someone become "dependent " on their glasses considering she was so young....maybe this was a dumb question but I'm not an optimoligist I'm actually a speech therapist. He told me word for word, "become dependent....glasses are not heroin!" Yes he said glasses are not heroin! I felt ignorant and disrespected!! How dare he compare drug usage to a question I had about a prescription. He was rude and pompous! NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
