I had an eye emergency today and I was able to get an appointment with Dr. MacCumber immediately. He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced in ophthalmology. I felt very confident with his diagnosis, treatment recommendations, and follow up advice. I've worked with him over the past few years and my sense is he is the very best in his field. The office staff was helpful and supportive at every stage, from making the appointment to imaging and scheduling my follow-up visit.

Dr. Mathew MacCumber and his staff are the best eye establishment in Chicago. People come from out of state for the eye care, I am blessed to be only 10 minutes away assured that I will receive the best eye care bar none.

I have been seeing Dr. MacCumber for appox 22 years . He is always professional and friendly despite being very busy . The staff if very positive and helpful. I do go knowing my visit is at least 1.5 from start to finish .

Emergency or not, it always seems like I'm there longer than necessary. I completely understand emergency situations arise, however, it would be nice to get a text/email letting the patient know that there will be a delay. It seems simple, but one notification would reduce the number of complaints I hear in the waiting room.

Although the support staff and nursing team are exceptional, they seem to over compensate for this doctor's poor patient care. He has never inquired about patient's other health issues and on our first visit assumed we spoke another language. There is always a long wait for services and when we finally meet, he rushes us in and out and does not pay time and attention to the patient. Each time with his haste, he does not wait long enough for numbing process (for eye injections), which causes pain to the patient. He also does not answer patient questions, the nursing team always does...this is unacceptable! We have no choice but to continue with this doctor as a new doctor would be more burdensome to start over. All we simply ask is clarity, patience and respect.
