Northwestern Memorial Hospital's Online Review Report Card

This place is the worst. I get routine post traumatic stress from navigating the parking garage. The food is the lowest quality possible at the highest prices. What about the hospital? Well the recent 'C' rating for quality/safety was quite generous. As a healthcare provider myself I have seen numerous dubious practices at every turn. This can't be the hospital that the city of Chicago deserves, can it?

some Rude nurse but docs are always professional

Unfortunately, both my husband and I have had visits to Northwestern's ER. If you are not arriving via ambulance, waiting in the lobby is never fun. However, once admitted in the back, the doctors and nurses have all been exceptional. They are attentive, responsive, extremely knowledgeable, and kind. They are also busting their butts, so as miserable as being in the ER can feel, it is always good to try and be as patient as possible. They are working and prioritizing as quickly as possible.

Very disappointed with the hospital performance, in downtown and west suburbs. The doctors are just making sure they get the money from the insurance, and they don't give a dam about the patients, no effort whatsoever to find what is wrong with you. I heard very good things about NW before I got sick, maybe it was true but now their performance is execrable.

They always take excellent care of their patients!! More Crowded than I've ever seen it

Absolute worst ER! I was admitted at 7:00 p.m. and it’s now 1:25 a.m. as I write this review. I am in an examination room waiting for the doctor to see me, so far I’ve only met with the PA. I was called into the examination room a little after midnight—still waiting on the doctor. This is the most unprofessional hospital I’ve ever been to.The waiting room is not clean. In fact, a man in a wheelchair urinated on himself three times. Streams of urine poured from his wheelchair. I told a nurse about it, but he did nothing.I am disheartened at what I’ve seen by the staff and the lack of care needed to maintain a humane and efficient ER. Visitors are treated like cattle, and the wait times are disgraceful.

My review got removed because their excuse is they can’t give out patient information, well then stop visits to the patient not jeopardize peoples lives. I spoke to their patient relations rep David who was accusatory and had a very nasty attitude. This hospital doesn’t care about African Americans here so stay away!

We’re from out of town. This hospital is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. It looks like a mental home. They didn’t even do a full thorough exam on my sister, and expected us to wait for 3 hours. Homeless people just walking in and out. After urine sample the nurse or nobody was to be found we had to walk around and see where to go next. Unfortunately this hospital made the experience much worse.
