R. Todd Hargan's Online Review Report Card

I love Dr Hargan's practical approach to medicine, very realistic, reassuringly transparent. His recent association with Howard Brown has not improved the overall quality of care I've been receiving, however. Come for the personal service, stay for the health-affirming care, but realize Howard Brown is not a health care organization, and it shows.

Dr. Hargan is thoughtful and thorough in his medical care and follows up on treatments to ensure that you are feeling well again.  He has treated me for more than 20 years and been instrumental in coordinating with other specialists involved in medical issues as they arise.

I've had Dr. Hargan as my physician for nearly 10 years. Great for men's issues a person who really cares about his patients. Jeanie is amazing and will help you get your prescriptions refilled quickly. Here's what you need to know with Hargan's practice. Even though he's part of the Howard Brown system, he's still kind of a one man shop. Yes, he has support staff and a nurse but it's still just him. This means there's not other "backups" for him in the office when he's not in. I've tried to refer people to him and more often than not, he doesn't have the practice open to new clients. What I've found with Dr. Hargan is you can tell him anything. He doesn't make you feel judged. He's also very open about who he is as a person. That's kind of rare in today's world of managed care.

I love this Doctor and all of his staff are wonderful as well, Todd, Jennie, Norman and Tina all deserve 5 STARS this doctors office is an example of what EXCELLENT health care is all about.Thank YouTim V.

I will say this first doctor and staff I've had that I felt comfortable with asking questions about my health concerns. It's hard enough get to men to doctor but especially men of color being engage in their health until a trip to the emergency room.  I appreciate the passion he has for his patients which I love this!!

Doctor Hargan and his staff are amazing. Wonderful bedside manner and very thorough and explanations of your health.

Dr. Hargan is a compassionate, caring professional who goes the extra mile in all facets of medical practice. He stays abreast of current research and treatment, is excellent in completeness of care (mind and body) and has excellent diagnostic skills.

I have had the good fortune of having Dr. Hargan and his excellent staff as health care providers for the past 8 years. I've had several primary care physicians while living in Chicago and have found the combination of knowledge, compassion, and responsiveness provided by Dr. Hargan and his support staff to be unmatched.

Dr. Hargan has been my doctor for several years and I absolutely trust his care and decision-making over my health. He has great bed-side manners and find him to be a caring doctor with lots of sensibility and knowledge. I still remember one day during an appointment, I was feeling somewhat depressed and out of it and he said...."You let me worry about your health and you enjoy your life, together we can work out any health related matter". I thank Dr. Hargan from the bottom of my heart.

I have a high deductible insurance plan, so normally by the end of the year I don't have any deductible and my doctor visits and medications are fully covered. I had an appointment/follow up on December 31, (a couple of years ago) so the office called me to cancel the appointment which was just a follow up on some tests because the doctor was sick. I told them that if I had to reschedule for a January visit that would mean that I had to pay the visit in full, whatever the doctor charges for a visit, Desiree (the office manager or nurse) said that follow ups are not billed to the insurance company or me. Oh surprised in February I received an invoice. To top it off, I have to get my medications via mail pharmacy, so the doctor places the orders, they didn't place the order on the 31st, instead they did it in January, so I had to pay for them in full. When I called the office for an explanation on both errors, Desiree's simply said "do you want me to fax your medical records to another doctor?" Basically I was kicked out of the practice. When I finally got a hold of Doctor Hargan, I told him what happened, his answer was "Doctor patience relationships are like dating,sometimes personalities don't click".  Enough said. Good luck if you join this practice, may get kicked out if you question their practices.
