I have had full hip and knee replacement. I will also be having my last hip done. The staff, process and procedure are incredible. I mean incredible too. In this day and age, when medical treatment is under pressure. This group led by Dr. Berger are world class. Their patient handling is incredible.Hip recovery, walking day of and from every day forward. Chipping during week 2. Played golf week 3- 18 holes. Used narcotic pain med only on days 1-2. Hip flexor and inner thigh tightness - was hardest.Knee replacement 2-3 weeks minimum time to ease pain. Walked gingerly the entire time. Biggest challenge is knee flexion and extension. Have to stretch and push every day. Needed pain meds Bc of soreness. Used a minim of 2 weeks. This also helped sleeping. Golfed at 2 months and haven’t looked back. Walked course golfing at 3 months. Effectively played paddle and pickle ball at 3 months. Biking and pretty much not limited.Knee feels fantastic.Definitely get the game ready ice machine. It’s a must have.All in all, best treatment I’ve had with drs ever!!Thank youSteve kosanovich

Dr Berger is fantastic ! I would recommend him to anyone looking for knee replacement surgery. I had both of my knees replaced by him and was able to get back in the pool and doing my water aerobics classes 3 weeks after each knee surgery !

Dr. Berger has been recommended to me by many people over the last couple of years. I will admit, I was hesitant because living in the far Northern Suburbs, driving to Chicago was not to my real liking. The thought of inconveniencing someone to take me to the hospital I just don’t like it. But I heard Dr. Berger’s name so much I had to at least make an appointment and listen. So glad i did, his staff was fantastic. They work like clockwork, courteous, friendly and well beyond helpful. They were in constant contact with me before and after the surgery. I was given e-mails, phone numbers and pretty much what seems like 24 hour contact with a staff member. Anyone that needs a hip or knee replacement really needs to put Dr. Richard Berger on their search list. Had my first hip surgery on August 4th and recovery with rehab is going great. I already have my second hip replacement scheduled for September 15th. I admit it, should have done it a couple years ago.

Dr Berger has replaced both my hips and knees and he is an excellent orthopedic there is I would recommend him to everyone and anyone I'm so glad to have him as my surgeon.His team of nurses are also the best and they all take care of with the best care

I went to Dr. Berger because I had heard such great things and was assured 4-6 weeks after surgery I would be back on my feet again, back to my old activities. I am a 50 year old very active woman. A week after the surgery I was in tremendous pain and called the office to talk to his staff. They are very kind but their only response was to take more pain meds. At 4 weeks I was still in a lot of pain and told the same. I am now at 2.5 months post surgery and still in pain. Although I have contacted the office several times I get the same response, to take more pain meds, and Berger has not reached out to me one time since surgery. If you are ok with very little after care he is the guy for you.

Dr. Berger and his team are amazing. A well oiled machine! He was so personable and gave you as much time as you needed to ask questions. He is highly recognized in his field. He is kind and compassionate. He has a level of confidence that makes you feel safe. I would refer him to anyone that needs a knee replacement!

My experience at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush with Dr. Berger and his staff far exceeded my expectations. The initial consult visit to scheduling total knee replacement in both knees was handled with the utmost professionalism and efficiency! The entire staff is very knowledgable and always helpful! Dr. Berger is the best in this field and I would highly recommend to anyone that suffers with knee pain to consult with Dr. Berger before anyone else! I had surgery in July and October and currently in the top 1% of recovery in PT! Mobility and balance are impressive! It is a wonderful feeling to be pain free and enjoying the things in life I have missed for the past five years! Thank you Dr. Berger and your amazing staff!

My wife and I went to see Dr. Berger about her knee and low and behold from an accident that I had acquired from years ago is now at the point my knee needs replacing.I was referred from a friend and was told he's the best, so far the whole process is amazing and I'm looking forward to the surgery. I truly recommend him.

I have gotten my active life back. All the pain I had is gone. I have been able to run again, do squats again and everything else without pain: work, work on the house, dance and the gym.Dr. Berger's experience speaks for himself. Do go for it without hesitation.
