Had both hips replaced within 4 months of each other. 1st one , worse one went fantastic so couldn’t wait to get the second one done. Always had concerns on how my leg length would be handled? And was told don’t worry it’s all done by laser . Well I did worry and to this day one leg is shorter and I walk uneven! Was told that I could come back and replace the uneven hip but now the femur would need to be cut and wired back together and a much longer rehab would be involved! Hmm . No thanks! So my review is 50/50! Should have stopped after the first one. Sorry but true words

Dr. Berger and his staff were very thorough in explaining the current problems with my knee. They then took the time to go over the details of my upcoming surgery and what I could expect during recovery.

Definitely the person to go for your hip replacement! Mine was done 2015 and still going strong! I also know two other people that had theirs done by Dr Berger and they couldn’t be happier!

My husband was to have had knee replacement surgery with Dr. Berger in October of 2021. They approved his insurance, and we paid for air and hotel reservations as we don't live in Chicago. About 10 days prior to surgery, Dr. Berger's office called to say that they wouldn't take the insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield) due to Medicare being involved (never could figure out what the issue was) and that he needed to overnight a check for $22,000. We canceled the surgery and recovered most (but not all) of the travel fees we had paid. We later received a nominal bill from Dr. Berger's office which we discovered was coded as an assessment fee for our call to cancel the surgery. We don't feel we should have been billed anything and have no plans to pay it. UPDATE: After seeing this review, the office contacted us and canceled the bill.

I consider Berger to be the “platinum standard in his field”, I’ve had BOTH my knees done & started running in no time. So many of my friends have had issues with their surgeries. Dr Berger is definitely worth the trip to Chicago.
