Marshall Brustein Md's Online Review Report Card

I was referred to Brustein via ER after breaking my shoulder in 2020. After surgery, it was clear and very apparent that Brustein didn’t fix it correctly. Brustein was very persistent about keeping me in PT which ultimately never helped whatsoever. After multiple complaints to Brustein about unrelenting pain, he wouldn’t look further into why I was in so much pain. His surgical skills left me worse than the actual injury itself; screwing together the bones to my shoulder. Skip to May 2022 and I finally was referred to another Ortho Dr. where his findings were spot on and was even notated that I had unnecessary screws and hardware in my shoulder. Although, Brustein was always kind to me, I felt I was just another “paycheck” to him. His staff was always rude and hateful and acted like it was a problem tending to my needs. On the grounds of medical malpractice and Brustein’s lack of care and compassion, I’m leaving a 1-star and will NOT RECOMMEND Marshall Brustein for any type of surgical service. Read these negative reviews and they are ALL spot on and true! Now I have to have another surgery because of Brustein’s care and lack of surgical knowledge in Orthopedic surgical services! F- is my grade to this doctor!

I don't know about the Dr because I only met him for a few minutes, but his staff is like a wild herd of banshee's who do nothing but be rude to patients, make people wait absolute ridiculous wait times with zero consideration for patients schedules. They feel entitled to belittle people who ask questions about waiting 2 hours for an appointment. The lady who answers the phone is ghetto and even cusses at you for asking why my insurance was charged for a surgery that never happened because I was kicked out of your office for calling Amanda out for her attitude. They illegally charged for services which were not rendered. I hope Dr Marshall Brustein is aware of the trash he has working for him.

Yes his waiting room can be busy. If you want to get in and out there are plenty of mediocre surgeons who never make their patients wait. His time is spent on surgery office visits are necessary but I hired him to fix my shoulder and he did a beautiful job. I ha a torn rotator cuff, bone spurrs and other repairs on my shoulder. I couldn't have had a better surgeon.

After suffering a terrible splinter fracture of my humerus it was beautifully reconstructed. His bedside manner and staff all share the same compassion and care. They have great attitude and gentle when checking, fixing any problems with my arm. Now at four weeks I'm healing nicely! Thank you So much.

The care itself is fine. You heal. Yes, that's the goal. But the time I spent in the crowded waiting room over and over again is just unacceptable. Patients have jobs, school, etc. We need a system that charges doctors for constantly keeping patients waiting for an hour or more.

I was shocked and sad to see the review from 2016. Dr Brustein repaired my thumb and did a very complicated rotator cuff surgery. I would give hi a 6 if i could. He is caring and kind but most importantly he is brilliant surgeon. Yes the wait is sometimes long in the waiting room but he will give you the time you need when he sees you. His staff is very nice. I can't say enough good things about him. I wouldn't go any where else for upper extremity problems.

I understand he might be a good surgeon, and one of the few hand specialists in Decatur but, his office management and staff are terrible. Very little to no consideration of patient’s care. Wait times of two hours plus for a Drs appointment. The waiting room was packed and COVID reg compliance is very doubtful. I received a phone call from the nursing staff at 6:00 AM to confirm an appointment. This office needs customer service training!

Great physician, nurses and office staff. Felt like He was great with kids. Explained everything with ease and took the time to answer all our questions no matter how big or small.

He is a descent doctor but the wait time is Ridiculous. They had us come in at 6:30 am and he wasn’t even in the office. We waited more than an hour for him to show up to spend no time at all with us. The sad thing is there is no doctor that dose hand orthopedic that doesn’t make you wait in Decatur because I have been to many.

My appointment was at 8am sat for 2 hours in a waiting room full of people asked the nurse what was taking so long she tells us they are always 2 or 3 hours behind that it would be around 11am before I can speak to the doctor brustien they were rude I waited over 3 months for this surgery just to have to find a new surgeon now.
