Dr Katz saw me due to an injury to my cornea. He was very kind and gentle when he examined my eye. He explained his findings and made sure I had enough of the appropriate medications and gave me additional saline to keep my eye moist. I truly appreciated his professionalism and kindness.
very personable
TOTAL JERK ! You can’t question anything he says or does ! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!!
My experience with Dr. Katz has always been very positive. He also has an excellent manner with his patients!
Great surgeon
I am a new patient that saw Dr. Katz for the first time. The office staff is very nice and professional. I was taken in by a technician whose name i think was Stella. She was very kind and understanding of my eye issues. She was very helpful when explaining all the testing she was performing on my eyes. when it was time to see Dr. Katz, I had to wait a little but he was worth the wait. He put my mind at ease with my particular eye problem. He gave me good advice and i will be seeing him again in 6months. i would highly recommend Midwest Center for sight.
Paid thousands for recommended cataract surgery, but it did not go so well and no explanation or help after to rectify situation w/ glasses.
Dr.Katz & along with his staff, did a great job. I was in and out in a short amount of time with thorough examination. The waiting room clean and sanitized *****
My husband and I were patients of Dr. Hirshman for over 40 years, then Dr. Mono for several years, and now Dr. Katz since November 2020, All three and the whole practice have been outstanding. My husband had cataract surgery in Januaray 2021 and has done very well. Very organized procedure and excellent explanation to the patients. Keep up the good work. Martha and John Schippman
I have been a Patient of Dr. Katz for over 20 years. He corrected my vision and the result was amazing. Here we are and now in my 60s I needed cataract surgery. Everything went so smoothly and I am so happy to have my vision back again! Not only is Dr. Katz determined to get the best result for you, his staff is professional and courteous and makes sure you are informed and comfortable throughout the process.
Dr Katz performed my Lasik in 2011 and my vision is still perfect. Very professional, a master at his craft. Highly recommended!!
Dr James Katz is a very quick person, and I attribute it partially to the busy schedule of the practice. Some might feel a bit rushed, but despite the busyness, he answered all of my questions at every appointment, made me feel safe about the surgeries and recovery periods, and did everything with utmost precision. I had my PRK laser surgery done with Dr Katz in 2013 on both eyes after 15 years of wearing contacts, and I'm super happy to this day. It's so nice waking up every morning and seeing
Very thorough, professional, and caring.Helped me through a rare eye disorder!
I was a patient of Dr. James Katz back in 2015. I have been near-sighted for decades but never had bifocals. In my mid-40's, my eyes were changing and I was not seeing things (even close-up reading) as well as I used to. Rather than visiting my traditional optometrist, I sought a good ophthalomologist (Dr. Katz was recommended by my regular physician). While I dreaded thought of bifocals, the progressive type & his prescription turned out great & I had no problem adjusting. Thank you!
He needs to be more sensitive to patient concerns about problems. And the wait times are horrendous.
At 83, I was told by my ophthalmologist, Dr. Joseph Paxhia, that I needed cataract removal, and he recommended Dr. James Katz at the Midwest Center for Sight. My only caveat was generally long wait times because of their very busy practice. I found all the staff friendly and competent, and their measuring devices far ahead of what I had previously experienced. Dr. James Katz (there is also a Richard Katz at the Center) is very personable and informative, and, as I was to learn, an incredibly gifted surgeon. I had not realized I was seeing the world through a sepia haze and a lot of astigmatic distortion. Now, several weeks later, my vision is as clear, color correct, and bright as when I was a teen-ager.
My time with Dr Katz was unpleasant and hurried. I waited more than 45 minutes after my eyes were dialated to see the doctor because he was busy talking with a salesman for supplies. He then came in checked the write of his tech but did not check my eyes to see the results that I need cataract surgery. He was rude/abrupt to my sister who asked one question. He replied that he would go over that info on my next visit. I will not be back to this practice.

Dr. Katz is an excellent cataract surgeon...however, the wait time for follow-up treatment is un satisfactory...I have been there three times post-op and was required to wait in excess of one hour of my appt. time...the last time was well over an hour and I had to leave before seeing him because of previous commitments...I truly believe that Dr. Katz schedules too many patients for the same time frame and he appears to be unconcerned about that...perhaps his high level of expertise brings in more patients than he should which may prevent him from establishing a good doctor/patient relationship...I refuse to be shuffled about by the staff while waiting for Dr. Katz and am seeking further eye treatment elsewhere...
