Trying to achieve healthcare in a timely manner doesn’t exist ever. They screen their phone calls & they spend more time out of the office than in but want to claim they’re “open” w/ 2 locations when logically the doctor is no where to be found. I’ve spent more time tracking down the doctor than actually being seen by her. So now we’re dealing w/ a “receptionist” whose inability to stop talking over people & aggressively at people just has zero listening or communication skills. It’s very disturbing to think this woman is employed at a healthcare facility dealing w/ delicate children & their families. Especially during a crisis. She was confrontational & before SHE “HUNG UP” on me she tells me “she doesn’t need this stress in her job”. Can you explain to me how she was ACTUALLY doing her job? How is this a legit functional office? Also: they don’t have proper stock of well-being shots. After canceling 4 apts on us finally told us to go to the HEALTH DEPARTMENT to get the babies shots!

Haven’t been back in a while due to personal reasons (just had a lot going on the past couple years), but Dr Akin played a huge role in saving my baby’s life……. My second born developed Pyloric Stenosis at 1 month old, he couldn’t hold anything at all down and lost significant weight. I took him to Good Samaritan hospital where they told me it’s probably just GERD and that he’s fine and sent us home, on top of that the lady doing his Ultrasound was very rude and rough with my baby and seemed like she didn’t even care to really look for the issue. After a few days I took him to Dr Akin instead, she immediately knew something was very, very wrong. He was extremelyyy dehydrated and underweight. She seemed very irritated the hospital treated us the way they did and called for them to prepare another bed immediately Ultrasound for her to review. She rushed us to the hospital, even offered calling an ambulance. Because of her forcing Good Samaritan to help my baby, they finally took us seriously, and transferred us to a hospital that actually has a pediatric unit. (I don’t know why you wouldn’t have that as a hospital but w.e). That’s why now that my life is a little less messy I’m taking not just him but all three of my children back to her to get caught up on their vaccines and what not.

We love Dr. Akin so much! She was the ped my OB recommended. We were planning on switching to another practice but after meeting her in the hospital after our daughter was born we decided to stay with her. It was hands down the best decision we’ve ever made for our child. She is kind and compassionate and just so unbelievably caring. She is more an old school doctor who takes the time to get to know her patients and their families. I’ve never had a problem getting in the same day when my daughter is sick. We do typically wait when we have an appointment but don’t mind because I know she will take her time with us when it’s our turn so it is worth every minute of our time to wait. She’s hands down one of the best!

So happy I found her, my kids love her and she is so great with them. You can tell she really cares and is easy to get a hold of.

We have a very unique son who has a minor case of cerebral palsy but is quite athletic. Also, we've moved around a lot and deal with cultural stress that impacts his health. Dr. Akin listens well, asks good questions, and puts us at ease. She thinks through matters and gives us good options. She doesn't buy the easy diagnosis with our son that put him in boxes. Instead she doctors to help him reach his full potential.
