This was my wife's first visit for spinal stenosis surgery consultation. Dr. Mather was professional, polite and easy to talk with. He answered all questions and listened to my wife and my self. He approached the issue conservatively and did not recommend more surgery than was necessary. We are going to have him do the surgery.

Dr Mather is arrogant, condescending and lacks any degree of compassion. His listening skills leaves much to be desired. The visit was almost combative because of his insensitive comments.

Terrible surgeon does not listen to my concerns and now I’m depressed about the surgery he did on me. If I knew what he was going to do to me before surgery I would have canceled the surgery,He doesn’t care what he does. He wants your money. He doesn’t deserve any star.

Dr. Mather gave me hope when I was at my lowest point! He gave me back the ability to walk again without crippling pain and constant collapsing. I knew the day after my surgery that he gave me my life back.

Outstanding surgical procedure at Elmhurst Memorial, cervical plate and screws for compressed/damaged discs with no remaining cartilage, numbness/shooting pain in arm and hand. The procedure became a multi fused cervical repair with a plate and screws, and was "the worst arthritis Dr. Mather had ever encountered during a repair" in a patient. Dr. Mather was very thorough and meticulous, procedure took longer than Dr. Mather expected, however, he would not finish his surgery until he had everything "correctly repaired", multiple x-rays during procedure, and fully explained everything from start to finish. Excellent communication from first visit to check-up visits, Kelly PA, was also outstanding as follow-up visits included follow-up x-rays to check healing, p/t to encourage proper rehabilitation after surgery. VERY PLEASED WITH RESULTS! outstanding job! Truly a lifesaving procedure for my husband.

Absolutely the worst doctor experience I have ever had. His words exactly, “No doctor is going to touch you at that weight”. Yes I am working on losing weight and am down from 250 to 225, but there’s a better way to share that message. The he insisted my pain was just tendinitis and left. It was a 2 minute appointment. The imaging clearly shows a disc bulge that was hitting the nerve. Got a second opinion and the doctor said it was clear as day as I just had an injection. Dr. Mathers was truly one of the rudest people I have ever met, and his ego was out of control.

Dr. Mather and his team performed a successful surgery at C1-C2 location, with a positive outcome, and I am pain free after a normal recovery period!

I had cervical spinal fusion 2 years ago and Dr Mather and his staff were EXCELLENT! I now have 3 herniated discs and would not consider going to anyone else.

What a poor excuse for a physician. He is a hack as a surgeon. Run away from this guy. Nothing good about his practice from the snarky PA to angry faced nurse.
