I came to this hospital after receiving awful treatment at my OBGYNs.  I came here hoping that some people actually cared for their patients, and for a minute I almost believed it.  I came here a week before giving birth due to scare tactics used to make me feel awful at not being able to make an appointment made for me on a date I never made.  I was given a clean bill of health by this hospital, and decided that this would be the hospital Id give birth.  I regret it.  I didnt think it a big deal when a nurse asked me if Id seen a paper which Im assuming they were supposed to  keep an eye on, which had my daughters vital signs and confirmation  of well being.  I didnt even think it odd that I was told a urine test was absolutely necessary, only to realize that I was discharged and the urine sample was left forgotten in the bathroom.  I thought it was New Years, and since I was happy about being told my child and I were healthy, not in the mood to be pessimistic.  Fast forward to the week after.  Im not sure why, but after I refused to sign the consent form for an emergency csection, everything went downhill.  I was fortunate that my daughter made her exit a quick one.As I am still recovering, not from delivering, because that part was easy, but from the doctors absolute cold treatment and demeanor, not to mention completely killing my belief that MAYBE some doctors actually cared about patients as opposed to how much goes into their wallets or in this case also teaching students through forcing you to be their Guinea pig.  I arrived here with full on labor contractions, not even an hour after arriving I pushed for 5 minutes, and voila, my beautiful daughter was born.  Natural birth, no pain other than the contractions Id been having for two hours.  During that hour, I had the doctor stand right next to me, hounding and pressuring me to sign a blank paper allowing her to perform an emergency csection.  Now, I understand that procedure might be necessary if something were to go awry, but thats what a proxy is for.  My fiance made it very clear that if indeed a csection was necessary, hed have no problem making that informed decision, should it be absolutely necessary.  The doctor appeared flustered and left in a huff, only to come back a little while later, when I felt the need to push.  An African American Male was there beside her, no doubt a medical student in training.  I pushed for a total of 5 minutes, making the experience a quick and easy one, but not beautiful.  I was still nervous at how I was put through such a lengthy explanation as to why I needed to sign a blank sheet of paper allowing them to perform an emergency csection. This made three doctors pushing me to get this procedure, and making it less and less a beautiful experience Im meant to enjoy.  It worked once, but it will never work again if I can help it.  Fast forward to the next morning in this hospital.  I was already extremely tired because I was unable to be left alone long enough to rest, and there was extremely noisy construction going on, making it impossible to get rest in between nurses rushing in and out every hour.  EVERY HOUR!  Except when they were actually needed, as I stated before.  I came home beyond exhausted, and with a nasty bruised arm that hurt more than the actually labor... no joke.   I was poked twice by a nurse in training.  I heard her say shed hit a valve before she was given a dirty look by another person.  She then proceeded to stick me AGAIN, making me wince in more pain.  To top it off, shed input the wrong number which my daughter and I were given to easily identify as mother and child.  Ive decided to try a midwife after these ordeals with doctors and hospitals.  Im not sure if my age (39) will allow it, but I sure as hell am not going to put myself through this ever again.  I have also decided on a career path due to these experiences.  I hope more women educate themselves and fight to be treated more like people and less like a guinea pig.

I received the most ethically irresponsible care I have ever received while admitted to this hospital for 4 days. Most specifically, I kept telling the medical team that I did not want opioids for pain management and they kept forcing me to take opioids. Im very sensitive to certain classes of drugs, opioids being one of them, and they kept insisting that opioids were the only option. One morning I woke up to an entire medical team trying to stabilize me as my blood pressure had dropped to 70/30. There are many hospitals where you can receive more competent care in Chicago

I only go to the hospital when I absolutely need help. So, its usually through the ER. Either Im unconscious, bleeding or in extreme pain so I never have to wait long to be admitted and seen by a doc. The last time was for extreme neck pain after a sports injury. MRI, CT scans were done and the ER Doc then said, Good news/bad news. The good news is no brain damage. The bad news is you broke your neck. Ugh. Surgery required, of course, and while there could have been more communication with the surgeon I could not have been treated better. This is usually the case.

By chance this year The Doctors EKG had an blip, nothing crazy, but his primary doc decided to let a cardiologist look at The Doctor. The cardiologist scheduled a nuclear stress test on Valentines Day and immediately checked him into the hospital based on his stress test.  So instead of eating chocolate cake and drinking champagne we were in the hospital.On Feb. 25, 2020, The Doctor went in for a triple bypass at Evanston hospital. There was 100% blockage in two areas and 90% in another area. There was absolutely no indication that there was anything wrong as he didnt exhibit any of the common symptoms (fatigue, shortness of breath, chest/jaw/arm pain, water retention, etc.).The procedure went smoothly with no complications. He had an amazing surgeon who rocked that procedure. His surgeon was very pleased with the process and said he could see an immediate improvement in Brians heart function. He was in ICU for 24 hours, then in a private room and they had him up and moving right away once the tubes came out.Fast forward to today. He is home and doing well. To look at him, you would never know that he had major surgery this past Tuesday. He still has a long way to go in healing, but he looks great. I was concerned about a possible personality change as I have read papers about that...hell look at Bill Clinton. But The Doctor is still the guy that went in before getting cut :) I am giving major props to this hospital.  From the time we checked into the emergency room to the day of the surgical procedure, the staff was amazing!  Customer service skills were off the chart!  The nurses, PAs, housekeeping, food service, transporters, the staff where the angiogram was done, the people working in the cafeteria, etc. were all so nice.  I am saying for the record this was not a fluke,  The Doctor was initally in the hospital from 2/14 to 2/20 as they were trying to figure out the best course of action for him, then 2/25 to 2/29 for the surgery.  I was at the hospital every day from early morning to late at night to be with The Doctor.  Everyone was friendly and seemed to genuinely care...great bedside manners, even the intern Chaplin.  I had no idea that hospital Chaplins did internships!  During the surgery, a nurse called me every two hours to update me on The Doctors progress.  At one point I was on a conference call on my work phone and missed a call from the nurse on my personal phone.  She called the receptionist at the desk in the waiting area and had them look for me so I could get the update from the desk phone,I wanted to be there with The Doctor every day and had no problem getting him ice water when needed it, but the nurses were constantly telling me to call them for that as they would take care of it, even if I needed water.  I just felt like I was capable of getting that for my Lil Man to free them up for more medical stuff.I hope none of you ever need heart surgery, but if you do, ask for Hyde Russell for your surgeon.  He was amazing, but most important, he was very personable.  When he talked to us prior to the procedure, he was reassuring and comforting.  After the procedure, he came out to tell me how it went and it honestly felt like he was happy The Doctor did so well.  His delivery of the news felt like he was happy how things went, not that he was this great surgeon who played god and save my husband.  He stopped by every day that we were there to check on The Doctors progress and to give us time to ask questions.  He didnt look at his watch, he didnt rush us because we loooove to talk things through (that is the Engineer in him and Chemist in me).And I hope none of my Yelp folks in the Chicagoland area never need to go to the hospital, but if you do, this is the place to go.

I was recommended to come to NorthShore for their Maternal Fetal Medicine department since my pregnancy is considered high risk. The care I’ve received has been incredible. The doctors and ultrasound technicians are so thorough and really take the time to look at the baby’s development and growth. The doctors (especially Dr. Tien and Dr. Neerhof) and are extremely knowledgeable and eased my worries. At our previous appointment, we were even given 3D ultrasound pictures; which was such a bonus. Would highly recommend!

Had a Mammogram there today. Truly awful experience. As I sat there half naked in the paper thin front opening gown in the “procedure”, I was talked down to in a very rude and condescending manner by the “tech” person who was annoyed I as a patient did not understand how their system of imaging works! My Northshore Doctor in GURNEE said all my records were with NorthShore. This “tech” person informed me my Doctor was wrong. Then demanded I tell her where my records were. I tried to explain that they were in Wisconsin where I live ( it was over an hour each way to get this rude “Treatment”) and that a new hospital group had taken over. I said I was guessing without looking up the info. This employee of NorthShore then informs me that she is not going to tolerate my attitude and was going to get a supervisor. I told her that was a good plan. 10 minutes later a “supervisor” walks in. I have now been waiting half naked over half an hour and a total of an hour past my original appointment. To treat a patient just trying to get a mammogram is truly disgusting. You feel vulnerable enough having strangers touch your breasts, then to add all this condescending nonsense on where my “records” are was so unprofessional. If NorthShore can’t figure out how to share records that should have been sorted out BEFORE my appointment. So done with NorthShore!

Been coming here for years. Fantastic Hospital!!Personnel are superb. Very friendly, compassionate, concerned but always professional.

This is a wonderful hospital for both patients and and staff. If coming to visit family or friends, one can have their ticket validated. The staff is hospitable and welcoming. Free coffee and  tea is available for visitors on the patient floors. Dont forget to visit the infamous piano that plays on its own, with no human assistance!There are several restaurants, and a Starbucks close to the hospital. Once inside, theres no need to leave. The hospital has its own cafe and cafeteria. The food that I have sampled has been tasty. Outside vendors come in on different days to serve their delicious cuisine. My favorite was the taco salad from a local Mexican restaurant.

So sorry but Evanston no longer that great hospital, that it use to be. Drove their in severe pain, 5mm kidney stone. And they sent me home, with just pain pills, and told to follow up.pain was so bad when I got home,  I passed out hitting my head.  LOC  for over 10 minutes. Took ambulance to Resurrection Medical,  ER worked me up when I passed out again,  admitted me, had,CT,s, consult with Urology and cardiology,  found out  right urethra completely blocked,  scheduled for surgery now.  What a difference when medical care is delivered correctly.
