I’m writing this review 8 years late. I’ve been suffering after Dr Merel’s care until this year when I finally finding better docs who gave me a real diagnosis and treatment. Dr Merel was nice but hardly did an exam, did not do any imaging, didn’t ask me about my diet… just gave me laxatives and sent me on my way. When my body stopped functioning because it was dependent on laxatives, she told me it’s fine and that lots of ppl have to take laxatives daily for their whole life. At the time I didn’t know better and followed her advice. She made my symptoms so much worse. Now I know that doing so is actually harmful to your colon! Unless you’re looking for a bandaid, go somewhere else!

I been her patient for 8 years. She is a very caring a knowledgeable doctor. Takes her time to listen to you and explains everything so clear. Very happy to have her as my gastroenterologist. All of her staff are really nice.

Great visit, Dr. Merel was extremely helpful and informative. She took her time to explain what her diagnosis and what the next steps are fit me into her very busy schedule for my follow up procedure before the holidays.

Dr. Merel is a wonderful intelligent physician. I have been seeing her for the past 10 years. Dr. Merel always takes the time to check how I am feeling both physically and mentally . I feel part of the medical process in determining my options and treatments. I highly recommend her.

Dr Merel gave me her complete attention! Interested in hearing from me, the reason for my appointment. Her explanation for different preps for a colonoscopy gave me confidence .

The pre-prep to the drug store was wrong and I had to call to rectify. Had to make 2 trips to Walgreens. Also they gave me 5 places to get a PCR Covid test, which Golf Surgical Center does not take. They only accept the test from Evanston or Libertyville. Dr Merle was great but their help should get their direction and prescription right.

Dr. Merel was great, she came in to touch base beforehand and told me exactly what was going to expect. She also came in afterwards explained what she found and saw-along with dietary recommendations.
