Leyland Thomas Md's Online Review Report Card

I do not recommend Dr Thomas at all. I sit in the room for about 40 minutes before Dr. Thomas comes in. When he does come in, he says a quick "How are you doing?" and then completely ignores me for at least 5 minutes, no questions, nothing, while he's scrolling through his computer. He finally starts asking me questions, I explain why I'm there (to get put back on anxiety medication that I've been without for 2 months and to discuss ADHD medication since I had been formally diagnosed last September), and he tells me that he is unable to help with the ADHD medication and I'll have to make an appointment with a psychiatrist, whom I was under the impression I had made an appointment for in the first place. Annoying, but not the biggest deal. My number one priority was my anti-anxiety meds. Throughout our conversation, Dr. Thomas makes multiple comments completely undermining my ADHD diagnosis, including, but not limited to, "Well I'm also disorganized and forgetful, that doesn't mean I have ADHD," and "Well you made it through college, doesn't sound like ADHD to me". Even after explaining that I had been FORMALLY DIAGNOSED BY A PSYCHIATRIST, he was still dismissive of it. He has me sit on the table thing and is testing my reflexes, typical check-up stuff, and does that thing testing my leg strength by pushing down on my knees and telling me to "lift my leg". Me, sometimes having difficulty understanding what's being asked of me and already uncomfortable because of his previous statements, lift my leg below the knee by mistake. (I haven't been to a primary care physician in YEARS, and so haven't had to do this, and was confused.) His response? "You went to college, you should be able to follow instructions". I sit back down in the other chair and explain that I sometimes have trouble interpreting what other people are asking of me. (I left it at that because I didn't want to have to explain my neurodivergence to someone who was already acting dismissive of them). This man, having previously asked if it was "Miss or Mrs.", responded, "Not understanding sometimes? You sound like a wife already". Towards the end of my appointment, he tells me that he's "putting down 'Consistent Mood Disorder'," (which is just a general umbrella term for at least 9 very different mood disorders, none of which I have. I am a mental health professional who diagnoses people myself, I know what this means) because he "doesn't want to put a label on things" and completely refused to put down my ADHD diagnosis which I went through months of appointments and hours-long assessments to get diagnosed with. Like, no. You completely ignoring my diagnoses and refusing to put them down makes it extremely difficult for me to get the proper care and resources I need for those conditions, and you putting a very lose, umbrella term down will make it easier for them to deny me these resources. If it wasn't for the fact that I was in desperate need of my anti-anxiety medication and this was the only place I could go to get it that wasn't going to make me wait until October to be seen, I would've walked out of that appointment, but I toughed it out, let him refill my prescription and write a referral to a psychiatrist so I could be seen about the other stuff. Thankfully he didn't try to schedule a follow-up, because I will be switching to a different primary-care physician. I already have EXTREME anxiety when it comes to doctors appointments and doctors in general and had pushed myself past that anxiety to make this appointment because I was in extreme mental distress and desperate to get back on my medication, but this entire experience was extremely uncomfortable and disheartening.

This used to be my primary physician. Never felt he cared about anything. As often as he had me coming I don't even believe he knew me from 1 visit to the next. Getting anything done seemed like pulling eye teeth (painful). No matter what time my appointment was I could plan on being there waiting for hours. Hated going to see him. My time was valuable just like his but he never seemed to respect it. To wait anywhere from 1 1/2hrs. To 3 or more hrs ticked me off. Wasn't impressed with the staff either. Took for hours to get through for a phone call. Never would get a return call or anything. The whole experience was horrible. He may be a good doctor but he wasn't for me. Was glad to get away.

Up until this point i havent had a problem with Dr. Thomas, I'm now in between specialist and I am in need of his services being that he is my primary care doctor after all. One would never think that an office would need more than a week to request patient records, doctors notes from previous specialist, however I'm now going on two weeks, and they still haven't requested my records. Unfortunately I suffer from cronic pain, due to extreme bodily injury, I'm now 3 days into withdrawels, :-(

He is a glorifyed drug pusher,very impersonable,Does not take the time to get to know me like a doctor should,put me on gabapentin for pain without even knowing the actual reason I am having pain,was having bad effects from it,so he cuts me off cold turkey!!!either he dont know crap about the drugs he prescribes,or just dont care,but any GOOD doctor would not just cut thier pateint off of a drug like this!!I am considering sueing him because the side effects are not going away and im afraid i have permanent neurological damage from this poision!!He should stick with being a gastro doctor and stop trying to practice things he knows little to nothing about.Maybe he just hates white people,I got that vibe.

He is a good doctor and he cares about his patients.
