I am a retired physician who has had increasing lower back pain due to spinal abnormalities. I went through two courses of physical therapy with some improvement, however, the problem persisted. Family members recommended acupuncture. Although I was skeptical, I made an appointment with Dr. Amy Zhang, a certified acupuncturist in Highland Park IL. I noticed improvement after the first session and there has been continuing improvement over the last two months of weekly visits. Dr. Zhang was born and well-trained in China where her parents both practiced acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine. She is U.S. licensed in acupuncture. She is very caring, kind, and conscientious. She adapts her treatment to patients' needs. She specializes in pain treatment but also can help with other medical problems. Her office is small in size, but she is highly effective and I recommend trying her services.

Tong Zhang (aka Amy) is incredible. She's super sweet and has studied and practiced Chinese medicine for a long time. Her parents were practitioners too. I had chronic shoulder pain for well over 2 yrs - I couldn't lift my arm much above shoulder height, and every time I moved it, there were these weird, crunchy noises. Had it x-rayed, the doctor recommended PT for the inflammation and prescribed an anti-inflammatory medication. The medication helped a bit but PT made it worse. So I finally asked Amy if she could help. I kid you not, in less than 10 mins and w/ just 6 needles my pain improved by 70%. I went for 2 more sessions and my shoulder is now 95% better. Maybe you're trying to conceive or dealing with chronic pain, anxiety, depression, tennis elbow, acne or something else....whatever it is, please consider giving Amy a shot. I cannot say your issues will clear up as quickly as mine but it's definitely worth a try and your insurance may cover it!

I have had several appointments with Amy. She takes the time to talk to you and really understand your concerns. she carefully examines your body as a first step. She provides a wonderful massage and then carefully places needles in the proper body points for your pain. The office is very clean and Amy is very personable. I have seen her three times so far and she listens to me really well and then treats me accordingly. While she’s treating you, she explains every single step to you (even suggests what food is good for me and explains why). So awesome. She really takes her time to take care of you, not rushing to get you out of door after 1/2 hour like the other Accupancturists I visited. I am in my late 40s but my period started reappearing and I am able to go to bathroom daily. And also my other issues are taken care of well (work in process). She is from a family of Accupancturists and very knowledgeable and experienced. Thank you, Amy~
