List of Northshore University Highland Park Hospital's Reviews
EXTREME APPRECIATION. from the family of Dominic Scardina, to the all of wonderful NURSES, DOCTORS, and Staff in the incredible ICU Dept for the AMAZING CARE you gave our dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, and uncle for his recent medical emergency. We especially want to thank Nurse Lynn, Nurse Leila, Dr. Barnett, Nurse David, Nurse Johnnie, Nurse Alexa, Dr. Labowitz,, and Dr. Schenk, for going Above and Beyond! . You always kept us updated and informed plus you genuinely cared how he was feeling. You all made Highland Park Hospital vey proud! We are very lucky he was transported to this hospital!! Thank you all so much! - Candy Hill and Family!
I have had only great experiences at Highland Park Hospital. I have been to the ER, was met with a comfortable wheelchair and treated with much respect. I was seen after not much of a wait and treated very well. I have also been there for surgery and was happy with the treatment, the cleanliness of the hospital, and their willingness to help. When I wanted to get up early, they called my surgeon without hesitation. This hospital is way above many that I have been to. In my experiences, I was treated as a human, as an equal and with respect. I couldn't ask for much more than that!
I just spent a couple of days in the emergency entrance of the hospital. I have aortic stenosis, the hospital staff. Was wonderful every single person I met was phenomenal. I can't thank you enough for the good care.
My sister came to this ER with sever abdominal pain. It was tender to the touch and shortness of breath. They made her wait for 5 hours!!! With no treatment!! When they finally took her in they ran a few test and multiple issues were found including a enlarged heart! They Discharged her that same night without treatment! My sisters visit was transferred to another doctor on staff. He never read her file and just sent her home. My sister pleaded with the doctor to actually look at the test results, that he admitted he never read. This place is absolutely disgusting and will leave you for dead! Please don’t go here if you are in need of medical care!! Especially if you are of African American descent.
The absolute worst ER waiting experience. This is the 2nd time I have been forced to wait hours on end in the ER waiting room before being seen. I am currently approaching 5 hours, waiting to get admitted to ER. I would have been better off not coming here at all and gambling with my health. If you are admitting yourself to an Emergency Room for any reason - go elsewhere. A local Walgreens would be more responsive.
Best doctors and nurses great staff
Went to the ER with explicit orders from my doctor to get a test done while I was having pain. Pain lasts several hours. All I needed was a simple test and had exact directions. Instead I was made to wait for 2 hours while my pain dissipated rendering the test useless. Avoid HPH at all costs. They do not listen. They do not care. Everything is protocol and rigid, god forbid they use their brains and do what is right.
I came in with extreme vaginal bleeding and sat in a pool of my own blood for over 2 hours before I left. They never did a pregnancy test or asked if I needed another pad. I would have been off driving to Chicago in rush hour with the expressway closed, than wait there for 3 hours, thats how long it took them to call my name because they called my cell phone. By that time I already had a pregnancy and blood work order at RUSH.
We were told 90min wait in the ER that turned into 9 hours sitting in the waiting room. NorthShore University Health System hospitals used to be top notch but have gone down hill severely over the last several years. This was a Tuesday evening, there was a baby with high fever and ear infection that cried and had to wait over 7 hours to even get so much as some Tylenol. There was an elderly woman who was too weak from the flu that didn't get fluids for 8 hours. Another elderly woman with a broken foot. The waiting room and the ER rooms were not even full and many people left to go elsewhere. There is obviously a staff shortage, but the staff that remains offered zero honesty or estimates. We might have had time to try another hospital if they had been clear with all of us.
Dont believe the low ratings on the reviews. We came to the hospital from Charlotte NC for an operation. Everything and everyone was first rate. They run a benevolent tight ship and it is reflected in all aspects . It was clean, so much cleaner than other facilities we've been to. The staff was very competent and helpful. . The doctors were the best, the PA s too. The food was the best hospital food we've ever had.. We felt safe and you want to feel safe.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
