List of Sonya Kenkare, Md's Reviews
HAES Friendly Dr. Kenkare is an advocate for people who reside in larger 'fat' bodies in the sense that she provides authentic and non-weight biased care to her patients. Although she can speak quickly, I found Dr. Kenkare to be incredibly warm, safe, friendly, smart, and helpful. Would recommend her to anyone.
DO NOT SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH HER. PLEASE READ. It's been a year since I saw Dr. Kenkare and I am finally writing a review for her because my visit with her comes to mind from time to time because of how disappointing it was. I scheduled this appointment in regards to my family history with melanoma and a growing mole. When Dr. Kenkare walked in, she immediately started telling me that moles should continue to pop up for women without even taking a look at any of them. I sat there confused because she was trying to dismiss all of my concerns. I reiterated my family history and concerns and she still dismissed all of them. I ended up asking her to take a look at the mole that I was concerned about and she decides to finally take a look at it (without putting on any gloves and without touching it). She just basically glanced and said that it was fine. With utter shock, I left the office so confused because I never experienced any appointments like that. I had thought that it was only me until I finally read all of her reviews. Learning about other people's similar experiences not only validates my feelings, but it is also disappointing to know that she is still practicing medicine. I wish I had read the reviews before seeing her, but I trusted my PCP who referred me to her. With all of this being said, I hope to help warn others who decide to see her and hope to hear that Dr. Kenkare make some changes in her patient care.
One of the most rude dr.s I have ever seen She spent little to no time with me, did not understand my needs, and when I asked her to slow down she ignored me. Her solutions were not helpful. Went back to my Old provider because I felt so awful after leaving

I work in the medical field and I do not recommend her. No gloves to look at my issues because she seemed to grossed out to examine the cyst. Just a quick glance from afar. Then gave a supposed diagnosis in 3 seconds. She proceeded to leave and I had to tell her to wait while she was walking out because I had a quick question about a medication previously prescribed. This is the second time I’ve had an appointment with her and felt extremely rushed. I just thought the last time was a fluke. I’ll just stick to the urgent care in the future. They are actually a lot more thorough. Although, I will say the last derm I saw there was absolutely wonderful. You can always tell when someone is in the field just for the paycheck.
Little Care / Memory of Patients I have seen Dr. Kankare several times before finally finding a new doctor as a result of her sheer lack of interest in her patients and job. She does not review patient health or visit history prior to appointments, seems bothered when reminded about health history, disrespects patients who may feel uncomfortable being nude and moves too quick (a full body scan of someone with malignant melanoma history should last more than 4 minutes). Do not recommend.

Similar feedback to other patients - she was WAY too fast (she came in, gave a full body scan and left within 4 minutes). She does not look at the chart before appointments (I have to remind her of my family and personal health history) and generally seems disinterested in her job. Do not recommend.
I am pretty surprised by the reviews here. I have nothing but praise for Dr. Kenkare (keep reading) and it seems like most of these negative reviews are left by overly entitled divas with unrealistic expectations whose feelings get hurt when they are told their time w/ the doctor is limited. I literally never leave reviews but had to do it here. Do some people think that Rush is like some boutique day spa? Lol. The doctors here see like 8,000 patients a day-- and is one of very few clinics accepting Medicaid which I'm sure makes it busier. I have MANY joint and bone issues and am a regular at Rush Ortho. The longest I've ever spoken to an actual doctor there has been like 3-5 minutes. Rush hires MDs who know their stuff --- and it's a quick in-and-out experience. ANYWAYS - Dr. Kenkare always examines my skin quickly (I assume because she's good at what she does and knows what she's looking for,) Last year she spotted a mole (in some hard to reach crevice) which I had no idea existed, got it biopsied and it turned out to be malignant. BUT, it was early enough where she was able to remove it safely, and I think it's something I no longer need to worry about but we are monitoring it. Basically she kinda maybe saved my life? VERY grateful for this doctor, and people need to stop whining. You don't see the thousands of other patients leaving positive reviews, just the few negative nancies whining.
I wish I had read some of the reviews beforehand to set my expectations, but I have never felt as rushed at a dr’s appt as I did with Dr. Kenkare. It did take me a couple of months to set up the appointment, so with her schedule being booked, I presumed I’d be getting stellar service. We rapidly went through the two main reasons I was there, while she observed from afar my concerns and made recommendations. I felt a little chastised for asking follow up questions and about other issues, as she replied I would have to refer to outside sources and was walking out the door as I was still trying to have a conversation. The whole appointment probably lasted less than 10 minutes. Would not recommend, but rated two stars (as opposed to one) because she submitted a prescription and I’m hopeful it will work.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
