List of Dr. Mark A. Berk's Reviews
He is a good dermatologist, knows what he is doing. Took off some lesions, took about 20 minutes. $1200 with insurance (still on deductible). Still paying bill 8 months later.
Have used Dr. Berk for more than 10 years. Have always found he and his staff to to be attentive to problems presented.
The reception staff was fine but the doctor was awful. I wish I could give negative points in the survey. He was very rushed, disrespectful of personal space. He use to come so close to me right in my face even when he is not examining me. He didn't listen to my problem well and acted like as if he didn't care. He spent less than 5 mins talking to me and was not interested in listening to my questions. Never have I met with a doctor who is so unprofessional. I would never go back or even stop people going to Dr. Berk. I think he needs to back his bag and retire.
I made the mistake of going to Dr. Berk thinking he was a dermatologist. He is just a front for a skin care product outlet. Every other dermatologist writes a script for a cream but here they try to sell you their own product. At massively inflated prices. Only go here if you want money sucked out of your pocket. I would not see Dr. Berk if I had an issue because my impression is he cares more about selling product than fixing my skin problem.
It seems to be a routine practice of the Skin Care Center to overbook patients. As a long time patient of Dr Berk, I expect to wait a bit. But there are limits! I arrived for my 10:00 AM appointment fifteen minutes early. At 10:40, forty minutes after my scheduled appointment time, I left the exam room, not having seen Dr Berk. Appointments are agreements between the patient and the medical provider. The patient agrees to arrive on time; the medical provider agrees to provide service in a timely manner. Anything else without a reasonable explanation or apology is simply unprofessional rudeness. Overbooking seems to suggest an intolerable degree of greed.
Receptionists offered incorrect information. Horrible billing department, especially Juliet, refused to correct their mistake.
Always on time. Very thorough and accurate in his diagnosis. Nice bedside manner.
I wish I could give them a zero. My husband went to them about a growth on his nose. They did a biopsy and said to just watch it. Never let anyone tell you to "just watch it" when it comes to your nose. The growth reappeared about a month after the biopsy and they continued to say just watch it. Months went by and continued this line. Then he goes in almost a year later and they suddenly said you need Mohs surgery. Come to find out having basal cell on your nose is the worst because of your delicate nasal passages etc. The roots of the growth can be deep. Three other doctors (other practices) were shocked when we showed them the biopsy report that we were not counseled to have Mohs surgery immediately. He just had surgery through another office (because he doesn't trust Dr. Mark Alan Berk and his assistant) and it was a huge surgery. He has several lines of stitches and will take up to a year to heal. The hole in his nose was so large they had to do a flap. Don't go to this practice for anything to do with growths.
Receptionist schedules appointment a month ago, my appointment is in 2 days they call me to cancel because the Dr just went on vacation and didnt tell anyone. Not a good first impression. Next.
Dr. Berk found a Melanoma that other doctors missed. If I wouldn’t have gone to Dr.Berk I wouldn’t be here right now. Knowledgeable, kind and caring! The best dermatologist in Chicago.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
