List of Johnston Mary's Reviews
I've been seeing Mary for 15 years and extremely happy with her. I love her personality and she cares !!!
Good service!
The Doctor is logical and no-nonsense. If that's what you mean by having "no bedside Manner". I happen to really like her approach. I don't need a "lollipop" I need the truth. I'm pleased to have her as my Doctor.
Like others before me, I was forced to see Dr. Johnston when my doctor was away. Her bedside manner was atrocious. I was in her office for a UTI but she kept going back to my acne, telling me all the crackpot ways I can “heal myself.” She got visibly angry when I respectfully redirected her, as I was there for a UTI and I see a dermatologist for my acne. After that it was like talking to a wall. She sat with a curt look on her face and then smugly asked “what do you even want?” And I said “to have my urine tested because I have a UTI” she scoffed and said “sure you do” and walked out. The nurse came in immediately, I got my cup, waited, then the nurse came back in, said I had a UTI, and verified my pharmacy. I asked where the doctor went and she said “she said you’re all set.” The woman didn’t even have the decency to come back and show her face. What a horrible experience for something that should have been routine and easy for her. She turned it into easily the worst doctor visit I have ever had.
Dr. Mary Johnston has terrible customer service and character. As a doctor it s your job to serve your patients and keep their best interest at heart. It s your job to make sure they re healthy and safe. I was due for my 20 week anatomy scan with my first child. I was coming from 2 hours away and got caught in unexpected traffic half way there. I tried calling the office several times and even called the actual Albany Med hospital to see if they can transfer me, but there was no way to contact them being that it was after 5pm so the messaging system was the only option which makes absolutely no sense because the office was open until 8pm. Anyway, my appointment was scheduled for 7pm and my 2 hour ride turned into 2 hours and 30 minutes so I ended up arriving to the office at 7:15pm. You re allowed to be up to 10 minutes late, but considering my situation I was hoping I d be able to be seen, especially because my usual doctor, Dr. Morales, knew I was traveling from far because I hadn t been able to situate an appointment closer to home yet because of insurance reasons (I was a student in the Albany area and graduated so I returned home in May). After speaking to a staff member, Sue who is very wonderful and helped me 100% through this nightmare, we were informed that Dr. Johnston said I can t be seen. My boyfriend and I were so frustrated, mostly because we just wanted to know if our baby was OK, it s our first child we don t know what to expect. We asked to speak with Dr. Johnston and when she came out she had such a poor I don t care attitude. She even tried to lie and say Dr. Morales went home, but what Dr. Johnston didn t know was we were already informed that she was still with her 6:40pm patient so either way I would ve had to wait to be seen whether I came at 6:50pm, 7pm, or 7:15pm. Dr. Johnston ended up revealing Dr. Morales is only doing her residency so it s not her decision if I can be seen so she (Dr. Johnston) decided I can t be seen. This was the worst experience I ve EVER had in a medical setting. My mother is a Family Nurse Practitioner and I ve worked in several doctor offices and patients have never been turned away or treated so cruelly. I m moving back to the Albany area soon, but trust me I ll never return to this facility again, not even if it was the last place on earth. If it wasn t for Sue I would ve never got an appointment scheduled in time before my 22 week deadline here in the NYC area, I m so greatful for her.
Dr. Johnston has been my medical practitioner for over 25 years. Im honored to acknowledge her work and her commitment to the medical field!
Terrible customer service and interpersonal skills. I was due for my 20 week anatomy scan. I came from 2 hrs away & got caught in unexpected traffic half way there. My apt was at 7pm & I arrived at 7:15pm, but she was still seeing a 6:40pm patient so either way I would've had to wait to be seen. She turned us away. My partner & I were so frustrated because we just wanted to know if our baby was OK, it’s our first child so we don’t know what to expect. I returned home unsure when/where I'd be able to get an apt. Worst experience ever.

She is not personable and her bedside manner is horrible. I would not recommend anyone I care about to see her. If she is the only doctor available when I need to make a sick appointment, I do not make an appointment as being sick is better than being her patient.
Love them great doctors an better care

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
