Juan Alzate's Online Review Report Card

On the recommendation of a friend who had surgery with Dr. Alzate, I decided to seek help from him. I can’t thank him enough for the excellent job he did with my cervical disk replacement surgery. After months of suffering in agonizing pain in my neck, shoulder/trap area, and arm, multiple injections in my neck by another doctor, weeks of PT, chiropractic care, acupuncture, and a finally a trip to the ER, Dr. Alzate was able to replace the disk in my neck and the pain in my arm/shoulder/trap was immediately gone post-op. He is a very compassionate and skilled surgeon and took his time to thoroughly explain all my options with regards to my procedure. I never felt rushed or pressured by him or his staff. His staff was very helpful and accommodating with regards to my hectic travel schedule. Five stars is not enough, if I could give him ten I would!!

Doctor Alzate is a very good Surgeon. After the procedure he performed on my back the pain has gone away and I want to thank him for that.

It was a privilige to be seen by Dr Alzate and the whole staff. They provided excellent service with patience and kindness. Prior to my surgery of a microdisectomy ive been sufferening and enduring lower back pain with significant weakness to my left leg. Immediately after the surgery i noticed a drastic improvement. Im very thankful to have had Dr Alzate to use his gifts to help aliviate the depressing pain ive delt with for over a decade.

I was admitted to the hospital for leg pain. His colleague saw me one day and then he was assigned to my surgery. I do not recall if I saw him prior to my surgery, but I do remember him asking who did my 2 other surgeries and why I chose them instead of their group. Reason was because I met them for a consult and felt they were rushed and rude, so I went with someone else. Now he acts as if it is my fault for the issues and that I should never have gone to see the other doctors because they messed me up. Funny thing about it when I saw him for a consult originally he wanted to do a fusion. So I went for a 2nd opinion and that doc said no way, you're to young for that. Dr Alzate blamed me, the other physician and my choices for the issues. I went for a follow up, it was less than 5 minutes. The office note is incorrect, they say I'm taking a med he prescribed me which he never did, and other meds I take daily, he removed and said I was no longer on them. Unless I have no choice, like this time, I will never gi back to see him. He may be a great surgeon, but his arrogance and blow me off attitude like I was a burden, does not warrant me ever seeing him again. On a different note his office staff was excellent and helpful through my whole process.

Brilliant surgeon with excellent bedside manner and amazing support staff.

Dr Juan is a highly qualified neurosurgeon. As someone who has worked with three other neurosurgeons around the world as a patient Dr. Alzate new eaxctly what needed to be done. His office staff and coordination with the hospital was outstanding I wouldn’t hesitate in a minute to have him perform another surgery or utilize other service is in his office. I can only assume that the few negative reviews that were posted here or as a result of patients who either could not communicate effectively or had unrealistic expectations. Bottom line Dr Alzate and his team are an outstanding group of medical professionals.

I am so thankful to have met Dr. Alzate! He was able to remove over 90% of an "inoperable" brain tumor in my right frontal lobe. Georgia doctors were basically finished with treatment with no other answers. Praise God for putting this Dr. In my journey.

I am extremely disappointed with the care and feedback of this office. I went with my sister to meet Dr. Alzate and to one other surgeon in the area. She chose Dr. Alzate and had her surgery with him 2 weeks ago. She was doing okay for a few days and then all of a sudden, is in pain much worse than before her surgery. I suggested she call him over the weekend, she did, he said, will get you in right away Monday morning for an MRI. They didn't get her in until Tuesday pm, after they tried to make her wait till Thursday. She was told they would call her with the results and what she should do now. As of now Thursday afternoon, she has received no return call, results, or any feedback what so ever. This is not acceptable to me. No patient should be treated this way and deserves the return call when it was promised. I would not recommend this Doctor to anyone, please go somewhere else. I chose a rating of 1 in each group, but a 1 is actually too high in three of the categories!

Please go to anywhere else. Dr Alzate was arrogant, defensive, and uncommunicative. He actually said, "Well, we are the only neurologists around unless you want go go to Kenosha." I could barely understand him due go his accent and when asked for clarification, he just got snippy with me. In addition, he did not clearly explain anything about the case or follow up. His bedside manner was among the worst I have encountered.
