My knee replacement is to big, I’m in pain every day of the week. I don’t recommend Dr. Smith No ex rays or scans were taken before the surgery, he told me the computer would figure it out. Well now my knee is worse than before surgery.
I hate my knee replacement it’s way to big and painful all the time
Dr. Tom Smith has replaced both my left hip and my right knee. The hip was done almost 5 years ago. I was walking the next day and back to myself very quickly. When I went to see Dr. Smith the first time, I was very nervous. My hip was bone on bone and I was using a cane. He has the very best bedside manner of any doctor I've ever gone to. That is very important to me so that I feel comfortable and reassured. The surgery went smooth and I was so impressed with how quickly I healed. Unfortunately, I was also having trouble with my knees, specifically my right. We decided on a brace to start (since it also needed replacement eventually). I wore it faithfully every day and lived a normal life. I decided recently it was time to do the surgery and Dr. Smith performed a total replacement on that knee in November. I was again so impressed as was he when he saw me at the 3 week visit. I could bend my knee almost the same as the left. I was using stairs soon afterward. Love him!!
Dr. Smith is kind and willing to answer all questions clearly. He is innovative in his approach to orthopedic medicine as a whole. I recently had total knee replacement surgery. Dr. Smith's method for surgery and physical therapy helped my recovery to go smoothly and quickly! I plan on having the other knee replaced later this year and am very thankful to have Dr. Smith as my surgeon for that one as well. In the mean time, the injections he gives to control pain are very effective.
I am a 66 year old male suffering from bursitis. I found Dr Smith on the net searching for a non surgical fix. The home page on Dr Smith's website talks about his Shockwave Therapy and its success. I made an appointment and drove 1 1/2 hours. When I got there I filled out all of the usual forms, was placed in a room and taken for x-rays. After returning to the room I was greeted by one of Dr Smith's PA's, he asked how he could help and I explained I was interested in their Shockwave Therapy to help with my bursitis. He told me he had never heard of the treatment!! I showed him the website on my phone and he had no idea what it was. I asked him how long he had been their, about 7 months, and he had never heard of it. I asked for the practice manager and he brought back her card. Am still waiting for a call back with some kind of explanation. This Dr. studied at Mayo Clinic. I wasted over 4 hours of my time and have no explanation.
My older sister had her hip replaced by Dr. Smith a few years ago. Her recovery was fast with minimum discomfort. When it came time for me to get my knee replaced, she suggested that I make an appointment with Dr. Smith since she thought her whole experience went real well. Living up in the northern suburbs, I thought that it might easier just to go to a orthopedic doctor locally. I'm glad I took my sister's advice. The whole experience from the initial appointment, surgery(went home same day), PT, follow up appointments has be great. My knee healed great and after doing the physical therapy, I started walking daily 3.75 miles, 5 weeks after the surgery. This was due to Dr. Smith's knowledge and skill combined with the latest technology he uses, combined with the helpful, efficient, friendly office and surgical staff made it easy for me. Dr. Smith is easy to talk to and is very responsive to your questions and concerns. I would highly recommend him!
Dr Smith and his entire team are fantastic! I'm a 67 years old that had hip replacement and was walking on my own in 1 week with zero pain. He is very knowledgable and thorough!
He doesn’t know how to measure for the right size knee. I’m suffering because mine is too big
The doctor has the “never give up” attitude when facing complex problems. Thankful he is leading my team!
The BEST knee/hip surgeon in the area!! I had both knees done, the first by another doctor, had multiple complications, in the hospital for 4 days, lots of pain and swelling, incision took a long time to heal. Had the second one done by Dr Tom Smith, went home same day, had pain but not like the first time, healed much faster, driving in 3 weeks, went back to work in 7 weeks. Feeling great! walking up to 3-4 miles 4 months post op.I’ve recommended him to 5 people.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
