Khalil Y. Karim, Md's Online Review Report Card

My First class medical certificate expires on the end of February and while I googled the best AME near me, I came across Dr. Khalil in Melrose park and Dr. Ostrum in Elgin. I called both offices and immediately got turned off with Dr. Ostrum’s receptionist. What a rude person she was. I am glad I decided to go with Dr. Khalil. From the moment I walked in to the minute I left the office, I encountered nothing but courteous and professional service. Dr Khalil was an easy person to speak with and he was very polite. I recommend him to any Pilot who’d like to do their medical.

Dr. Karim is a phenomenal doctor. My 4 children and I have him as our primary care because of his quality of care. He asks the right questions and always listens carefully to determine what the best treatment is. He walks you through what you or your children are experiencing and what the treatment is expected to do and follow-up instructions as well. (I noticed some people commenting on the secretary but I've never had any problems, she's always attentive and quick thinking, might have just been a busy day.) He also has phone appointments which have been so helpful when all 4 of my kids and I are sick. I also love the appointments are in the afternoon so it doesn't interfere with school pick-up time and my time out of work. Additionally, as someone with social anxiety, I appreciate having the choice to book appointments online and not having to call, it makes it easier to get it done! Overall I always recommend Dr. Karim to my family and friends because I trust they will receive they care that they need. Yes, appointment wait times can be lengthy but to me, that just proves that he's actually taking his time to listen to his patients and not in-and-out like other doctors I've had.

RECEPTIONIST IS SO RUDE. If you are miserable at your job quit & look ELSEWHERE. Tried making an appointment for my daughter as a new patient and the receptionist was extremely passive aggressive. DO BETTER!!!! Matter a fact don’t take your kids or anyone here

Dr Karin is a very good Doctor and I recommend him to all families .

This place is a joke ! U can’t get a hold of the doctors office . They got a answering service for this place and the doctor don’t even bother calling back .. the office lady is very rude ! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO NO ONE .. I’m definitely going to reach out to the BBB and report this place and doctor !

If I could give zero stars I would. The receptionist is extremely rude. Very snobby. Doctor is never on time. Also he forgets to put in prescriptions. You cannot follow up or just show up. You get dismissed as if you are nothing. No one answers the phone. Very unprofessional and unorganized.

Had a nice experience at Dr. Karim’s. Great to meet a fellow pilot that shares the same enthusiasm for aviation. I am so glad to be able to do my physical at a nearby clinic. Thank you for offering this valuable service for general aviation. The clinic is super clean and organized. It is a true family owned family practice which is so nice and heartwarming to witness. Thumbs up!

I’ve never seen an office run like THIS ONE. Can never get hold of ANYONE. Wait time is always over an hour minimum. You call that a checkup? Listen to heart and take blood pressure.. never ordered labs and NOW I find out my brother has Hepatitis C… COPD… and Lung Cancer. And office got paid for this? You should be ashamed !! I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU EVER GO HERE!!!

Attention parents and possible patients. If you care about your health or for those loved ones, you would not go to this clinic. I had Dr. Karim since my son was born 2.5 years ago. At first everything was good I really like the doctor but that clinic that he has or whoever is running it are the worse !!! I had such horrible experience with them this last few months. I had covid back in December I called the doctor for advice 3 times and never got a response back. They just took my message and information but never once care to called me. That to me is patient neglect. Doctors are suppose to be there to help you when your not feeling well but not this doctor. Then again recently my son was extremely sick I called the doctor 3 times and not once did he care to call me back. That just about did it for me. This is my child’s health and for him to have this lack of commitment is just unacceptable. To reach the office is near impossible they just transferred your call to a 24 hour answering service and not to mention they don’t even have an office email. What type of medical office is this? Save your time and health. Do your research and find a better caring doctor that will actually have a working number and that will call back in emergency situations. Very disappointed!!! I didn’t want to leave a bad review but found it necessary specially since I was a loyal patient.

Always in and out pretty quickly he has a lot more knowledge than my previous physicians and he answers all my questions with patience he follows up with all your specialists and he’s affiliated with one of the best hospitals
