List of Linden Oaks Behavioral Health - Mokena's Reviews
I started receiving treatment from Dr. Thomas Bartuska in 2013 for Type-One Bipolar Disorder. He was the best doctor let alone psychiatrist I’ve seen, and I owe my mental well-being to him until the day I die. To treat my illness, he put me on Lithium, Seroquil, Lamotragine, and Alprazolam. However, at some point, he became a part of Linden Oaks Medical Group. He was still the most professional, ethical doctor I have ever met, but I could sense the private corporate interest both impeding his ability to treat me and my ability to receive proper treatment. As a result, Dr. Bartuska left the practice and I was left in the care of Dr. Pappas. Dr. Pappas’ apathy towards proper psychiatric treatment is appalling. His indifference throughout Covid especially shined a light on his complete incompetency as a medical healthcare professional.Recently, I was hospitalized for a manic episode, and he made no effort to see me. Previously, Dr. Bartuska would have bent over backwards to get me in. However, due to Dr. Pappas’ general apathy towards the field of psychiatry, I received no aid during a time of intense personal turmoil. To make matters worse, Dr. Pappas has been toying with my Alprazolam refills since I was released from a traumatic hospitalization. He has made excuse after excuse to not refill my prescription even though he has made no effort to connect to me doctor to patient. It is another example of why our health care system is atrocious.I would advise everyone not to seek treatment through Dr. Pappas. He is unprofessional and borderline unethical in his practices. He may just be another sociopathic doctor hellbent on lining his pocket books. But hey, what do I know? I’m just another one of his crazy patients.
Didn't believe I had ptsd and major depressive disorder because I was depressed 'circumstantially' this time
Extremely thankful for my experience here. This place and the people in it saved my life and changed my outlook on my situation and made me realise that it’s up to me to feel better and take control. Almost 2 years since I was a patient here and I couldn’t be feeling better thanks to everyone at this place with me I’ve been sober now for 3 month and I couldn’t have done it without my time here
I never write reviews, but I was so shocked to see the negative reviews for this location, I had to. The IOP program changed my life & a year later, looking back, in a lot of ways it saved my life.Present day, I transferred to a new prescribing doctor within the facility very easily & have been prescribed the correct medicine for the first time in a decade of searching for a doctor who cares about my allergies, etc. This place is seriously amazing and I would not trade my experience for the world. I am so thankful.
I went to this program and it truly changed my life. Before I went here I was misdiagnosed and was put on the wrong medicine which worsened my mental health. Once correctly diagnosed and went to linden oaks I was able to take the skills I learned and put them into practice. My psychiatrist Kaitlin helped me get on the right meds and is someone I can fully be honest with and feel no judgment. I recommend this place if your ready and willing to get the help you need/deserve. What you put in is what you get out of it. Overall thankful for this place.
Scheduling is a nightmare. Takes 2 months to get an opening for an appointment. Scheduling department reps are also subpar in confirming incorrect times for appointments, causing you to miss your appointment and wait another 2 months for another opening.
I was hoping this place would help, but I should have known better when I was made to feel like they were “too busy” to take my child and initially told me it would be about a week to get into their program because their “grid” was full. Very disappointed that this facility would essentially give up on my child and abruptly discharged stating that a rule in their “contract” was broken. I get that there are rules that kids need to follow, but they don’t seem to realize they are dealing with MENTALLY ILL KIDS! Why are they not given any least one warning and talked to about what could happen if they choose not to follow the rules?? Also, nowhere in the “contract” does it state that violation of any of the rules would result in immediate discharge. Linden Oaks added to the problems we are trying to get through! Very limited resources were provided to me to help to find additional help! On top of it, NO DISCHARGE PAPERWORK was provided! I was basically told to find somewhere else. My child spiraled after being told about the abrupt discharge and asked me why professionals are “giving up on trying to help”. Just terrible!!! Would not recommend at all! Please look into other facilities for PHP and/or IOP!!
Rules are strict, designed for a certain type of person. Therapist pushed her own opinions and agenda. Very quick to judge. Heavy emphasis on prescription medication to the point where it's either take it or get out.Rules apply to some. It seems they are pretty quick to wash their hands of someone and discharge them with few resources.
It's a day camp for people with mental health issues that teaches dialectical behavioral therapy techniques.I was expecting more emphasis on group therapy. Only an hour is devoted that, making it impossible for everyone to get a chance to speak. The rest of the time is devoted to playing silly kindergarten games. Whatever point they are trying to make is completely lost. You would be better off getting a book on DBT.
Thank you for helping me in the adolescent group it’s really helped. I miss you all and I hope everyone there is recovering well. Thank you for your service 🙂

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
