List of Jean M Houlihan-Henderson's Reviews
I walked in to her office feeling hopeful but left her office feeling hopeless, upset and angry. She was extremely unprofessional. Refused to listen, told me she didn't have time, kept trying to push pills on me without talking about their potential side effects, etc. She shot down questions I had, regarding side effects of meds I have researched. She was not interested in talking about preventative care or even after care. I brought up other health issues and she didn't even want to hear about them. She rushed me out of there as quickly as she could. She tried making me feel ashamed for even considering more holistic treatments, including eating better. I told her I was going to meet with a therapist, I felt like she treated me how the girls in Pretty Woman treated Julia Roberts in the store when she first tried to go shopping. All she kept saying was, "Good luck, they are VERY expensive." If you suffer from mental health or auto immune disorders, or anything at all, do your research and find a doctor who will actually CARE. Lucky for me, I have a wonderful support system at home. Had I not, though, this visit could have potentially been devastating to my well being. Mental health matters. My mental health is more important than what Big Pharma puts into her pocket. I hope she goes home today and really thinks about her words she chose. I hope she finds peace in her own heart...and maybe even gets her own head checked. Nobody is perfect, not even her. Just because someone is a doctor doesn't mean they know everything. Find a doctor who decided to become a doctor to actually really help people. THOSE are the good doctors. Those are the doctors we need in medicine. Not ones just looking to make a quick buck. Or, maybe she was just having a bad day. We all have bad days. I get it. I really get it. But it doesn't change the fact that she still acted the way she did and she still made me feel the way she did. I will not ever put myself through that again.
I have been a patient of hers for over 10 years. She is very knowledgable and was able to diagnose a problem I had while 3 other physicians were not able. She is respectful and takes as much time with me as I need. I feel very safe having her care for me. Her office is run very efficiently and is very friendly. I highly recommend her.
A nice enough doctor but she's just a pill pusher. When I had tests for low iron count she took a wait and see stance. Later I complained about fatigue, an inability to sleep properly and occasional restless legs. She prescribed Requip rather than address the underlying problem of low iron count (for the restless legs). Spent years trying to find relief for chronic migraines. She tried every pill in the book but I still had 2-3 of them a week (even sent me to a shrink). Finally a chiropractor did a full metabolic panel of tests and found out I was having an immune reaction to gluten and soy. Once I went gluten free, the migraines stopped. Turns out gluten sensitivity is the #1 cause of migraines. Most of my health issues were solved by removing grains and legumes from my diet. She's like so many physicians that is constantly prescribing pills to mask the symptoms rather than addressing the underlying health issues. Usually had to wait 15-30 min in the waiting room for an appointment.
Absolutely the most caring and qualified Doctor I have encountered in my 73 years. A throw back to family practitioners from years back. Spends sufficient time with you to fully understand and appreciate both the physical and emotional concerns you bring to her attention. Never rushes you. Avid listener.
I love her. She is the best doctor I have ever had. Very caring, takes her time and really listens. I cannot say enough good things about her. My son passed away 7 years ago and she called me back almost immediately. She has even given me her cell phone number in an emergency situation. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a new internist.
I cannot say enough good things about her.She is the best.Always caring, asks about my boys and husband.Listens to me.In all the years I have been her patient she appeared rushed two times and explained that she had a very sick patient she needed to get back too.My sisters are envious because she is never taking new patients when they are looking for a new doctor.I'm so fortunate to have found her!!
Each time I have visited Dr. Houlihan's office, my experience has always been positive. She's a wonderful doctor, who is attentive, caring and actually listens to me! Sadly, that's a rare find these days. I would, and have, recommended Dr. Houlihan to anyone who is looking for a doctor who is sincerely interested in their patients well being. I feel very fortunate to be under her care.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
