Great GP he has diagnosed and helped so much over the last 25 plus years.

I only saw Dr Hong 2x, so can't comment too much on him -- but his staff is horrible (Duly in general), so was forced to switch to another health center - one that actually cares about patients. As for Dr Hong - I have had dozens of bad experiences with doctors, therefore I am very stand-off-ish with a new one. I told him this. He asked for explanation. I get panic attacks when I explain, but I did. Got home and viewed my online notes. Apparently I "went on diatribes about previous providers". Wow. My medical charts from previous providers have verifiable mistakes, and Dr Hong degrades me in his notes about my fears. Unbelievable. Filed complaint in MyChart and spoke to Clinical Manager who was understanding and said she'd get the wording fixed. But then went back. Needed x-ray. Got results that it was clear, so I messaged on MyChart with multiple follow-up questions. A couple of days later Dr Hong looked at x-ray and wrote his recommendations. Staff copy-pasted that message into a reply to my questions. None of my questions were answered (because it doesn't take a medical degree to interpret "no sign of fracture" on a radiology report!). So I replied with the same questions. Most ignored, some vague. So I gave up and decided I'd live with the pain. A few days later - on a Sunday morning at 8:30am - I was barely awake when I get a call from "a nurse at Duly". I pressed for more information, and was told "about your message". Uhm... I have multiple providers at Duly that I message. Finally she says she's with Dr Hong and is calling about my outstanding questions. "Which outstanding questions? I gave up on them." Response: "oh, let me look. . . uhm". Yeah, calling at 8:30am in reply to a MyChart message that she hadn't bothered to read. So I ask the one question that I hadn't asked in the message. Her response made no sense - of course, because she only then read that one vague sentence and didn't know the background! So I ended the phone call. I filed a complaint via MyChart about the vague messages - that I was going to ignore, and added complaint about fact that Nurse not only called me at 8:30am on Sunday, but didn't know how to properly introduce herself, and didn't even spend 5 minutes to read the message chain to know why she was calling! Later found out from another provider that apparently I was dismissed from Duly?! Risk Assessment claimed that a letter was sent to me, but never got it. (This was 2nd time Risk Assessment claimed to send me paperwork but never did). Had multiple issues with other providers (one MD doesn't know the difference between thoracic and lumbar spine!), and was already planning to find another clinic, so it didn't bother me any! But must write here to warn others to avoid Duly - just ask around, anyone you speak to about Duly will confirm they are bad - and got worse after their rebranding!

Even when I changed towns, I drove in to see Dr. Hong. I've never known anyone with a better doctor. He stays up to date with information, listens to you, offers wonderful care and is invested in his patients. I recently moved across the country and wish I could just fly to IL for appointments. I've been setting up new medical for myself and family now in this new state. Talking about Dr. Hong, and how hard he is to replace inspired me to leave a review. Thank you, Dr. Hong!

My husband hates going to most doctors. He’s been going to Dr. Hong for years now. He’s the only Dr. he feels comfortable talking to. Dr. Hong is very knowledgeable, attentive, kind and thorough. He really listens so he can find the best solution. We highly recommend!!!

My father lives out of state and encountered some severe health issues while in IL. Without the benefit of his care team, we had to start our search for an Internist/PCP from scratch and thankfully that search led to Dr. Hong! We found him to be extremely attentive and thorough, as well as gracious when it came to our questions and concerns. We breathed a sigh of relief upon finding home and look forward to the high standard of care that we have come to expect and receive from him.

I am an RN and have worked at Loyola University hospital for many years. Being in a teaching hospital, I have witnessed many MDs, great and not so great. My experience with Dr. Hong has been nothing but excellent. He is attentive, thorough, and very intelligent. I highly recommend him as a physician.

Dr. Hong is a great listener and pushes me with just the right balance of encouragement and toughness to motivate me to constantly strive to improve my health.

Dr. Hong has been my GP for years now, and I am highly satisfied. i would hope never to have to change to another GP.

To this Dr. your money is a lot more important than your care or health.

I was a pateint of Dr Hong for 3 years. he completely midiagnosed my condition. He is not receptive or a good listner to patients. has to check his notes to remember your last visit as to what is wrong and then just treats you the same revolving door method. never in all the years i went to him did he ever do any research any symptom after a visit. i am now years behind on recovery and had to find other physicans due to his inability to keep up with medical changes. he does not read your blood test well and alway looks 1st to write a prescription rather than digging into what is the core acuse or disease. He forgets you as soon as you leave his office and has no new insights the next visit. i would have persihed had i not strongly intervened in the assembly line mentality as he never diagnosed my condition and it was easily found later with testing that has been in place for a decade. stay away
