Terrible and unprofessional doctor who refuses to see his patients. Ended up prescribing medication our daughter was highly allergic to.

I would like to give less than 1 star for the care – or lack of care – Dr. Katerji gave to my 5 month granddaughter who has epilepsy. He refused to see her for 4 days and wouldn't talk to my son and daughter-in-law on the phone until Day #3, even though she was experiencing 12 and 10 minute seizures multiple times a day during her 5-day stay at Edwards. When he finally came on Day #4, he didn't examine my granddaughter and put his dirty bag into her clean crib. He put her on Phenobarbital, which we were told by neurologists at Luries', she should never have been on. She broke out in a terrible rash as an allergic reaction upon her release and his response was to take her off the medicine and see what happens. Within 15 minutes at Luries's, my granddaughter had a team of 4 neurologists, and an epilepsy neurologist specialist. Find another neurologist if you are seeking one.

Dr. Katerji cared for my daughter 1.5 years ago when she was 5 months old. I now have a newborn and decided to make sure the doctor is still practicing just in case we need him again. I was shocked when I read some of these negative reviews and now feel the need to write mine. As a mother and RN who has worked with many doctors, I couldn't be more pleased with the care we received from Dr. Katerji and the knowledge he left us with. When my daughter was was 4 months old she began to show signs of what appeared to be infantile spasms. Initially, our pediatrician brushed it off. After doing some research and discovering that this may in fact be IS, I pushed the pediatrician to take action. She wrote us a referral and told me to call and make an appointment. Realizing that IS a medical emergency I decided to call Dr. Katerji (I believe I called an after hours line) and left a message explaining our situation. Within minutes the doctor returned my phone call to ask more questions. He then gave me his personal number and had me send him videos of my daughter during her spasms. He immediately instructed us to get to the nearest children's hospital for testing/treatment. After hours and hours of testing, everything came back normal and we were sent home without an explanation for her strange movements. I called Dr. Katerji's office and informed them of our hospital stay. While speaking with the doctor he could tell that I was still extremely worried and needed answers. He offered to review the tests from the hospital and bring us in for an additional EEG in his office. EEG and his assement came back normal. By God's grace it was determined that my daughter was having rare benign infantile spasms. He put a name to it and gave me the assurance that I needed. His kindness, wonderful bedside manner with my child and profound knowledge gave me what I needed as a first-time mother with extreme fear and anxiety. I have worked with many good and bad doctors and what I can tell you based off my experiences is that Dr. Katerji is a GREAT doctor.

I am normally not a 1-star reviewer. But the Dr was so bad I had to write one. Why? Refused to see a 5-month baby; could not be reached because it was not important that a 5-month old had a 12-minute seizure; 6th day finally stopped by and dropped a dirty medical bag in the bed and would now look anyone in the eye; prescribed medication that Lurie said was a big no no. Not a fan. Not recommended.

How do I can ahold of dr Katerji?? I am in desperate need of my daughters medical records and no one will answer the phone for three days now?? I am beyond frustrated.

Dr. Katerji has always been extremely knowledgeable, patient, gracious and to the point. My son has Autism and started having Grand Mal Seizures 5 years ago at the age of 14. When my son had his first seizure, it happened right before "a once in a life time trip" that we had planned for many years. If it were not for Dr. Katerji taking the time to reassurance that things would be alright with proper planning and a back plan, we would have cancel it all. We are forever indebted to him for that and the great care he continuously gives. Also, as a teacher of 20+ years, I am not always the easiest of hovering moms to deal with. I tend to go over board with a million and one questions and he always listens and has a prompt plan of action. His secretary has also been great with helping us deal with insurance headaches too.

First we called the referral from the er and there quickest app was July!!! (It’s April) our family doc referred us to dr katerji and they were able to get us in right away. Peggy is very sweet and comforting as well as the Denorah who performed the eeg. Made us feel very comfortable and reassured. The doc was able to answer all of our questions and we are very glad we found this office!

Very bad service, took forever to have results back.

This guy needs to retire. He never reads the notes from the prior visit to even know what medications were used. Had zero bedside manner with kids and has posters on his was from 10 years ago.

Dr Katerji is such a patient and kind doctor. You can tell he truly cares. He listened and answered all of my questions. He was very kind to my son and was very thorough in his exam. The office staff was also very kind.
