List of MIchael W Boettcher's Reviews
We needed a quick appt to get my child checked in and we felt rushed by this doctor. Not to mention he will force vaccines during a sick visit and will completely miss the point of a sick visit. It was as he was getting paid to push the vax to your child. Next time I’d rather wait for our primary care peds dr or go straight to the ER than to be seen by this dr.
I took my son to Dr Boettcher around 2004 and had a pretty awful experience, and came back to see if it was just me or if others experienced the same. It sounds like it’s the same for some (condescending, prescribing drugs with little explanation, etc). One example is that I brought my son (preschool) in because he was looking out of the corners of his eyes. I thought maybe he was having a vision problem. After an extremely brief evaluation, Dr Boettcher told me that he saw this “rare condition” about once a year, and that he needed to be on a heartburn medication for the rest of his life. I humored him for a week or two but there was no notable impact. My son is 22 now and did not take this medication outside preschool. I was very uneasy taking my son to Dr Boettcher, so I changed to another pediatrician in the medical group since I was HMO. They never changed this in their system despite multiple calls. I like this medical group overall but not Dr Boettcher.
He did video visit with both my children and was fantastic! Thank younb
For baby’s first appointment, he didn’t even bother coming to our room to discuss our newborn baby. We had to confirm with a nurse that a doctor even looked at our baby. We were never given any detail of our baby’s measurements or standard information that might be nice for parents to know, especially first timers. At our follow up appointment, he spent the entire visit telling us that we need to get the flu shot instead of tending to our newborn. He failed to mention that our baby needed to take a vitamin D supplement or start tummy time, would have been nice to know. Lastly, while discussing the Hep B vaccine, he suggested that our baby could be “sexually active not by his own choice” as his main reason to get it. Who would say something so awful? Does he get commission for the vaccine? I prefer a doctor to show concern for my baby and his family and refrain from using fear tactics to force us to make a decision. This doctor has a disgusting demeanor and I would NOT recommend.
He got extremely defensive and pushy when I had a single question about the Hep B vaccine. I simply asked why my newborn needs the vaccine now if Hep B is a sexually transmitted infection. Instead of listing the benefits of the vaccine, which I later researched online, my question “triggered” a response which implied my child may be raped and will need the vaccine then. It is important patients stop putting all doctors on a pedestal. It is ok to question them and test their knowledge. Do not allow your doctor to make you feel stupid for asking questions or push you into a decision you don’t feel comfortable with.
Dr. Boettcher is an absoutley AMAZING doctor! My kids have been with him ever since they were babies (they are now 18 and 20). He has helped them so much through the "ups and downs" of their growing years and has truly taken the best care of them every step of the way. We feel so blessed to have had such a caring and competent doctor all these years! And that's what you want for your kids. :)
I can’t speak to his ability as a physician, which I’m sure he’s qualified. But, his personality is awful. Condescending and borderline rude. If you don’t like kids, why become a pediatrician?
He mostly used my 11-month son (and us) as props for teaching his student! He didn't explain any of his observations to us. He paid little or no attention to my son's drug allergies and ended up not discussing with us the treatment he was prescribing before leaving the room. Our experience shows that he is unprofessional, rude and his carelessness in paying attention will make him ineffective at the least, and it can be detrimental to his patients. I will never recommend anyone to this doctor.
Excellent doctor! My baby was detected with hip dispalsia by second day with this doctor. I’m glad that he found this problem So early so we can fix this problem easily at that early age..

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
