Thomas A Scaletta's Online Review Report Card

He was the attending ER doctor at Edward Naperville. I came in at risk of cauda equina syndrome and was told by my doctor that I needed an immediate MRI. I was left sitting in a wheelchair in pain for 2 hours. Finally brought back, ignored for another 3 hours. Snapped at by the nurses when you dare ask a question about the wait. Dr. Scaletta NEVER ONCE SAW ME. Just ordered me a pointless urine test which was probably just an excuse to drug test everyone who comes in. I finally left after the very rude nurses informed me "he won't order an MRI." What is going on at this place??? My doctor was appalled and just as confused as I was! I'm lucky to still have use of my bladder and bowels after this lack of care!

Healthcare providers should be intelligent, good listeners, personable, and empathetic to their patients needs. Dr. Thomas is mediocre at best. My sister came into the ER last night with excruciating pain and after running several tests and analyzing results it was determined that she had a life-threatening ovarian cyst on the verge of bursting that required emergency surgery. Dr.Thomas printed off a WebMD page from Google and gave it to us, his best suggestion was for her to go home with prescribed narcotics because according to him "there was nothing he could do". Luckily for us, another doctor stepped in and pointed out that if she were to go home tonight in her condition then she could die (An obvious suggestion in my opinion). We were transferred to another hospital where well-trained surgeons took care of my sister. If it wasn't for the second doctor stepping in we would've had no other choice but to go home and I might've lost my sister last night. Inadequate patient care, Inadequate treatment, Inadequate doctor.

Terrible doctor, Sent my sister home in a life threatening condition.

Refused to treat me when I was in intense pain! He basically looked at me and said there's nothing I can do and sent me home. I have stage 4 cancer and many stomach surgeries and he didn't care! I had both my oncologist and GI doctor call him to at least administer bloodwork and a CT scan because of my past and pain I was in. He refused still! Ended up at the other Edwards Hospital ER and waited 4 hrs in a wheelchair , in pain and vomiting in a bag. The new doctor did her job and gave me something for the pain and a CT scan. Turns out I was passing a kidney stone. This doctor has no business practicing medicine! Reading many other reviews on him I discovered I'm not the only person he has done this too. I have a complaint in with the hospital and the State. Unfortunately I had to give him 1 star on here. He doesn't even deserve that!!

Dr. Scaletta took care of my husband yesterday. He was very thorough and answered all our questions. He had a very friendly bedside manner. Nurses April and Alexandra were very attentive and friendly. It made our 8 hours in the emergency room doable. Thank you.

Never in my life, have I ever been feared of going to an Emergency Room. I fear Edwards Emergency director Dr Scarlett a. This man has made my life miserable! I live in fear to even go there! What happened to the Hippocratic Oath he took. To fear your hospital from one man is A crime. The bad news is, if call 911, that is where they take me. And he does nothing at all to help me. We even set up a protocol of how to manage my disease that he provided and I followed through 100 percent! Bottom line 28 years is to long! Changes must be made. He is old school, and should not be in the health care program period. He has ruined my life. I am writing this with truth! I don’t want to see anyone suffer, what I have been through! Run from this man. He is bad news ! Sad, sad day to fear your emergency room when you are asking for help.

Absolutely the worst ER Director and doctor I have ever encountered. He put my life in danger because he refused to treat me appropriately once he discovered that one of my symptoms was a 3-day unresponsive-to-abortive-medication migraine and reviewed my immune system related allergies. I also had an elevated blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, unexplained bleeding, abdominal cramping, a fever, and had awoken paralyzed for over an hour that morning. He did not care and later the hospital administrators backed him up. He was disrespectful, dismissive, mocking, and actually told me to go home to a dark room, go to sleep, and then follow-up with my regular doctors. He released me in worse condition than I was in when I arrived at the hospital without a second thought. He denied me access to anyone else in authority, refused to contact my doctor, did not contact an on-call neurological hospitalist, and refused to administer a non-narcotic treatment that has worked in the past even after I asked him to try it. I discovered that he is the creator of a plan to discourage targeted patients who he believes are narcotic seekers from utilizing their ER so that it can save them more money. The problem is that he made assumptions about my case without actually asking me any questions. I ultimately ended up being admitted to a different hospital for 11 days.

Tom must be overworked or not capable of dealing with stressful situations. Tom is Very unprofessional and does not possess the ability to control his anger while talking with patients.

He is a doctor with a lot of experience, but not a lick of concern for the patients who depend on him to make life or death decisions in the ER. He has a temper, is easily agitated, and is more concerned with saving money for the hospital than he is about making sure that a patient is treated appropriately, especially if they are in pain and he thinks that they are only trying to get access to narcotics. His staff follows his lead.
