List of Syed Shah's Reviews
I first met Dr. Shah about 22 years ago when I was admitted to Rush for a heart issue and he was a member of my care team. The first thing I noticed was how other professionals raved about my being lucky to have him. And he didn't disappoint me. Because of my great experience, he has been my primary care physician since, and I even continue to see him annually after moving out of Chicago 8 years ago. Dr. Shah is thorough, he takes all the time necessary to explain to you what you need to know clearly in language you can understand. He stays up on the latest research and his knowledge of medicine is vast.
I had very sharp pains in my side. I went to Dr. Shah and he diagnosed me with IBS and gave me some medication. I returned two days later and he berated me for not giving meds time to work. Two days later, I ran to the ER. AFter some testing, they said I've had appendicitis and that now my appendix had burst. I could have died from Dr. Shah's misdiagnosis I'm thrilled I moved to Iowa and far from this quack who needs a lot of remedial medical courses. Terrible
I have seen Dr. Syed for over a decade. He is one of the smartest Doctors I have ever seen. He can do anything in any field if he wanted to. He specializes in Neurology and Psychology but he can do anything if he wanted to. He knows anything about everything. He is the real deal with over 40 years experience. He is also to nicest man you'll ever meet and actually cares about his patient unlike other doctors. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Syed to anyone reading this. If you got something wrong, call his office. He has 3 offices also and serves a very large portion of southern Illinois. Jeremy Farny
I have seen Him for seizure medication. He is very patient and takes the time explain thoroughly wants he to do for you. He is compassionate and caring. I highly recommend him.
I've seen Dr. Syed ...but I call him Doc...;) for almost two decades... I have chronic migraines & terrible sciatica, etc.... He is always willing to help & always cheerful and welcoming. He truly wants to do the best for you...and he's the best neurologist in this area! Those gals in that office have squeezed me in for urgent care & are always professional, patient, and kind. They also get this five star rating! You won't be disappointed...
He walked in room . And said we give you these meds . Didn't ask any questions didn't say any side effects. I asked about arms, legs going numb and memory getting worse , oh yes all normal side effects of topamax. He upped dose to 200mg 3 times day. Next few days I had severe breathing problems (severe side effect) told him he got pissy started saying pills aren't causing breathing problems . Patient always right he said then stormed out of room like a 5 year old. He told me just stop taking them. I went to regular doc. They told me that stopping suddenly can cause major problems . Seizures and maybe worse. He Didn't want to find actual problem just wanted to push meds and got pissy because I was allergic to it . Don't know how he's still a doctor .
One of the best doctors I've ever seen. Smart, compassionate , informed, well-read and prepared. The best of the best. I have left the area, so he's outside my new plan. But for an internist, you cannot do better. And every encounter, he teaches new things in a very easy way about your health. He's in an academic practice, so there are fellows and students are nowhere near him. It's worth it. And he's not fast. That's part of his being prepared & educated about you. Any delay? Worth waiting.
Dr shah cared for my mother and always went a step above in her healthcare. He detected cause of symptoms others had not found a reason for and gave her medication that resolved her problem.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
