These days getting life-saving antibiotics for your child can feel impossible. My kid was discharged from a hospital with a white count trending towards 30. My friend’s kid got severe pneumonia visible on a chest x-ray when a pediatrician refused to prescribe antibiotics. The pediatric medical community is so afraid of bacteria’s evolutionary tactics to mutate into antibiotic-resistant bacteria that a lot of pediatricians give up the fight against bacteria entirely. It is a sad day when you learn that bacteria are winning the war, and they have convinced doctors to stop fighting the good fight. Dr. Varghese was resistant to my pleas for antibiotics at first, as are all pediatricians in the 21st Century, apparently. But when I broke down and wept, she listened. My child had stopped eating. His skin was mottled. He would occasionally cough and start wheezing and gasping for breath. He had a virus over a week ago, but now in the second week it was different. As a mom, I knew what was happening. As a doctor, Dr. Varghese performed all the necessary tests to rule out other causes, and she did so with poise and without complaint. When I talked, she listened. It is hard these days to even want to enter a pediatrician’s office, knowing that the fight about antibiotics is coming. We parents delay the possibility of treatment because we fear the shame and humiliation that pediatricians put upon us due to bacterial mutations that are outside of our control. When I finally mustered up the courage to face the inevitable fight (my child’s pitiful gasps for air after a deep cough finally put me over the edge), Dr. Varghese did her job swiftly and thoroughly. Dr. Varghese saved my child’s life. I can’t thank her enough for listening to me and taking my concerns seriously.

We love Dr. Varghese! We’ve been seeing her since our son was born and now our baby girl sees her, too. She always puts my mind at ease especially as a newer parent, and make my kids as comfortable as possible being at the doctor. We’re grateful to have her part of their care team.

Very intimidating and judging doctor. Will provide referal to unnecessary doctors and bunch of blood test and all types of shots.Will not visit her again. Staff and office was good, but not the doctor.
