List of Jeffrey H. Port's Reviews
He is very evasive and will not give an explanation for his diagnosis. I certainly would not recommend him to anyone.
DO NOT USE THIS DOCTOR.While seeing Dr. Port, he frequently used difficult medical terms. I asked him to explain one of them, and he said “You have a phone. Look it up.” The term meant stomach cancer, which was completely a shot in the dark. He had not examined me, or looked much into my medical history. He dismissed most of what I had to say. Dr. Port referred to me as a mess, he was completely ignorant to my autoimmune disease (Type 1 diabetes) and treated me as if I have Type 2. After about 10 minutes in his office of being dismissed and ignored, Dr. Port said he would start me with a colonoscopy and endoscopy. Both are very invasive and there was no reason or cause to do either. After seeing another GI, I learned how Dr. Port’s approach was completely uncalled for. I’m so glad I went with my gut and did not let him do the procedures. I am surprised he’s still practicing. Whatever you do, do not go see this doctor.
This is the most arrogant physician that I've ever encountered. Wife went to silver cross hospital for colonoscopy based on Dr Ports recommendation. After procedure was over,he informed my wife that due to here massive size that he was unable to get images that were needed and that she would have to undergo a 2nd procedure the same day to get those images. He proceeded to emphasize that her body size was more than he could handle,as if he had just met her for the first time on the day of the procedure. I intervened as my wife started to cry. I felt he could have been more compassionate. He also didn't have to disclose my wife's weight to me (she was mortified by the way). Apparently Dr. Port has issues with people of larger statutes. Beware of his practice, unless you enjoy being embarrassed when you are most vulnerable (naked and still sedated).
My brother was misdiagnosed by Dr. Port and died 12 weeks later. Dr, Port told my brother he had GERD. My 56 year old brother had extreme difficulty swallowing, a 20 pound weight loss in less than a year, and all many of the risk factors for esophageal cancer. Dr. Port did an upper endoscopy and didn’t see the large tumor or even take a random biopsy. My brother called him a few weeks later and told him the swallowing was getting worse and Dr. Port told him to take the GERD pills twice a day. My brother ended up going to another doctor who immediately did an upper endoscopy and couldn’t hardly get the tube down his throat because the cancerous tumor was so large. He had end stage esophageal cancer.
Dr Port is a great doctor. He has done several of my colonoscopies and I have always been very hapoy with my experience.
Misdiagnosed my mother with Barrett syndrome. She complained of bloating, constipation for 6 months and he just did an endoscopy and told her to stop drinking milk. She ended up in the ER and was diagnosed with ovarian cancer stage 3. Do not go or send your loved Ones to Dr Port, as he Will not properly diagnose your problems, and you can end up with a life ending diagnosis which could have been caught earlier.
Horrible doctor! Missed diagnosed my 56 year old brother&as a result my brother died 12 weeks later! My brother had the classic signs&symptoms&risk factors of esophageal cancer. Dr. Port told my brother that he had GERD. He did an upper endoscopy and did not even perform a random biopsy let alone miss seeing his huge tumor. My brother told him that his symptoms were getting worse. My brother went to another doc&tumor was huge, causing tracheal deviation&was told it was present for a long time!
It took me forever to get in to see him. When I finally got in, he didn't even look at my problem, scheduled a colonoscopy and said he'd look at it at that time. The colonoscopy was scheduled for a month later. One week after I left his office I ended up in the emergency room and was immediately sent to a surgeon. It ends up my problem was pretty severe and I'm going in as an out patient tomorrow to have it taken care of. Won't be returning to this man at any time in my life EVER.
Zero stars actually, don't ever use him. He lied to me and my son in person. He did a partial colonoscopy on me, got paid full amount from Blue Cross and told me that he would cover the expense of the barium enema by Silver Cross hospital that was needed. After insurance paid the hospital charge, I was billed $28 and he would not pay me for this. He would not call me directly to discuss, no guts. He let his office staff do this. What a waste of my time, they are useless.DO NOT USE THIS DOCTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would have liked more active listening as my conditions worsened and the only move was more prescriptions. I have since stopped the prescriptions and the symptoms lessened. Had he taken a bit more time to listen or ask probing questions, I believe he could have found other solutions to help. I have since sought help elsewhere and would not recommend this practice.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
