List of Athletico Physical Therapy's Reviews
I had an excellent experience at Athletico Oak Park South! At first I couldn't drive with my torn meniscus, so having this facility just a few blocks from my home was very convenient for my husband to do drop offs/pickups. Parking is great with good availability of appointments. Tom worked with me at just the right pace. Soon I was riding my bike to PT! I was able to avoid surgery and regain total knee functioning. Kudos to Tom and the wonderful, friendly and respectful staff at Athletico PT - Oak Park South!
Excellent physical therapy services with professional, problem focused treatment in a kind and friendly environment and are very accomodating with scheduling. Tom, the manager and Physical Therapist is personally attentive to you as a whole person, not just a back, knee, or ankle sprain. This clinic was recommended by a friend who had a devastating injury which compromised his ability to walk and resume his active lifestyle. Tom has helped him regain his smile and mine as well!
I came with a bad back and hip pain. When I was through, the back was 100% and the hip greatly improved. Staff is good and very helpful.
Before I came to Athletico, I was counting the minutes until my run was over. I dreaded my running days. Tom determined that I had some outer hip and glute weakness from the years of running and the years of neglecting lateral strengthening. Tom has shown me how to continue to strengthen this area to prevent future pain, and as a result, I will be running two marathons in the fall. Thank you so much to Tom, Shawn, and the staff at Athletico. This is a great location for anyone in the South Oak Park/Chicago Area.
I began PT at Athletico, Oak Park South following a major spinal surgery. I must admit I was apprehensive and did not think physical therapy, or anything for that matter would relieve the pain, fatigue and lack of endurance I was experiencing. To complicate matters, I suffer from severe Rheumotoid Arthrities, Grade 4 Osteo arthritiis in my knees and a frozen shoulder. I had been to several other Physical Therapist over the years. I was less than impressed. At my doctors insistance I was willing to give it another try. Wow! What a difference. Tom Gorney took a great deal of time listening (not just hearing) my story and concerns. I joked that I was complicated and he simply replied "challenge accepted". I have never felt so comfortable and cared for as I do with Tom. He takes the time to get to know you as a whole person, not just a sore limb. He has a talent to develop a unique and customized program for my needs. I no longer use a walker, wear a brace nor have to take prescription pain medication. Tom's belief in me and his commitment to making my quality of life the best it can be has truly changed my life for the better. I would rate him 100 stars if that were an option. If you are struggling with any joint or limb pain, I encourage you to make an appointment with Tom at Athletico Oak Park South.
Thomas is an excellent PT. He helped me recover from my Achilles pain. He was very patient and knowledgeable. He made me feel very comfortable and hopeful that I will get back to normal again! Thank you for you help Thomas!!
Hands down the best experience in therapy this far! Tom learns your body movement and capabilities really well before working with you. The progress was remarkable and I immediately felt relieved from my pain. He also taught me how to manage my body on a daily basis and maintain a good posture
I worked with Tom Gorney while training for the Chicago Marathon in October 2021. I was dealing with knee and foot issues and he helped me worked through them. I most likely would not have finished the marathon if not because of the physical therapy I received from Tom. He was awesome to work with.
Thomas is a excellent therapist, which I am not sure if that's terminology fully describes his attention to details. I have been exposed to the medical community since a infant, he has not only the skill sets but most important the character, passion, genuine concern for the individual. Each of my visits I was certain that I was in great hands! The intuitive focus was always there ; which amaze me due to the public distractions. How does Thomas individual after each person make it seem as if you are the first and his only concern? It's called Professional and Passion! He's the Best!!! DN
I worked with Tom Gorney on my knee after total knee replacement surgery. He is such a professional and compassionate physical therapist. At first I was afraid that the sessions would be very painful, based on what you see on TV and in movies, but it wasn't. He always asked me to do my best on the exercises, but never pushed me beyond what I could do at that moment. He would ask me how my knee was at the beginning of the week, and would tailor the exercises to address my descriptions. So, for example, if I had pain or tightness on the outside of my calf, he included extra stretches to work that area and bring it equal to the rest of the leg. Give him accurate reports, and he will address issues as they develop. When my PT sessions were completed, I didn't feel quite strong enough, and he put in a request to my doctor for an additional month. I really enjoyed our sessions and can't say enough good things about Tom and his team.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
