I have been a patient of Dr. Ries for many years. He is always available and always listens. Dr. Ries has saved my life on more than one occasion. He is terrific in both his abilities and the respect he gives his patients.
Dr. Ries has been my doctor for at least 15 years. I highly recommend him and would not hesitate at all to refer him to my friends and family. He is intelligent and has a great way of working with his patients. I have asthma. This summer, due to extreme hot weather, home repairs, and humidity I had a severe asthma attack. His staff took great care of me and kept me out of the ER. He made personal calls to make sure I was ok. Individual attention was given at its best. I am truly grateful.
Drs. Aide rude tells one finding fromsleep apnea & said it showed no changes from three years ago and to get off oxygen . I explained to him that Dr. Ries put me on oxygen due to pulmanary hypertension but joe said go off of it as there was no drop in oxygen and medicare would not cover it though though I tried to tell him they are covering it.I explained to Joe that Dr. Lancent told me at previous exam the apnea was not being treated well before the test and ordered sleep study test but joe the aide wanted to hear nothing about drs. Findings.again joe the aide told me to go off oxygen at night which Dr. Ries prescribed over seven years ago. Aide was suppose to follow up with Dr. lancents exam findings and he refused to do it in regards to my eye surgery being scrap on Dr. Lancents advice. Dr. lancent wrote my internest advising It be scrapped due to sleep apnea and fluid in lungs. Joe told me to make another apt with Dr. Lancent and that he was busy so he switched me to the nurse who replied to my statement about Joe wanting me off the oxygen that I should not go off of it and she said she spoke to Joe and he denied telling me to go off the oxygen . This was a very dangerous lie that this aide told me as he said the service people were not going to connect the new cpap machine to my oxygen despite my pulmanary hypertension because medicare would not cover it. Medicare has covered it for three years and my blue cross has covered it for over seven years. the staff is rude in a hurry and lies when caught with giving incorrect advise . I intend on seeing Dr. lancent and getting issues solved but I feel that this place has gone way down in the service.
Made a 1 pm appointment. The assistant escorted me into an exam room. There I sat with no idea of when he may appear. Dr. Ries showed up at 2:30. When he did finally show up, I saw him for less than 3 minutes, then he tells me I need a PFT. I could have done that while waiting for him! This has been every single visit I have had with him, he has never once been on time for my appointment.
Dr. Ries is one of the top pulmonologists in the Chicago area. I became his patient 12 years ago due to a condition that I have called Sarcoidosis. I had previously been put on Prednisone for 3 years and had very bad side effects. Also, when they took me off the drug, the condition would be worse than ever. I found Dr. Ries and asked him if I could try and wean off the prednisone and just take an inhaler. He agreed with this and slowly weaned me off the prednisone. I have been on an inhaler (currently Flovent) for 12 years and my x-rays and lung tests have been stable ever since. God bless Dr. Ries for his expert knowledge, compassion and deep intuition.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
