List of MIchael A. Brusca's Reviews
Disregard for appointment time, inability or not explaining a procedure, after advising doc we will be switching doctors to get another opinion. The appointment we "so needed" was not available anymore.
Super sweet. Down to earth. Personable.
Their office is always running behind on appts so be prepared to wait but aside from that, I've had a good experience with Dr. Brusca. He's always very kind, compassionate, thorough in his explanations, and makes sure to listen to my concerns. He's been my OB-GYN through most of my annuals, miscarriages, and the delivery of one of my children.
Went here for my first pap and had a really good, comfortable experience. Dr. Brusca is fantastic and made my anxieties go away. If you’re 21 and about to get your first pap, I would highly recommend him because he’s very gentle and experienced. He kept making sure I was okay throughout the exam. My only issue was with the wait times and the nursing staff. I waited for around an hour in the lobby before I was called back. I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment too so I was on time. The nurse I had was very rude, condescending, and arrogant. I forgot her name, but she was older (probably 50s) and had short, reddish hair. There were a few times when I was trying to explain something to her about my medical/family history, and she would talk over me or brashly interrupt me. I was very shocked — I’ve never had a nurse or healthcare professional who had such poor listening skills. She then asked me in a condescending way why I chose to come to an OBGYN instead of going to my family practice. I was very unclear on why she was even asking that. I didn’t really even have an answer. It made me feel like I was inconveniencing her, and she was annoyed I was there. I was already very nervous for the pap, and she did not help at all. I have to go for a follow-up in a few months, and I’m so scared to have her again. I should not have that issue when going to a medical office.
Awful. Avoid this place like the plague. They scheduled my wife for a 3-hour blood glucose test on a Saturday morning which required her to stick to a very strict diet the 72 hours leading up to the test. We followed all the instructions and cleared our calendar for that Saturday morning. When she arrived to the facility, we discovered that this sadly incompetent doctor’s office forgot to send them the testing request. We called the doctors office to try and solve the issue and the incredibly rude answering service hung up on us. Stay away from these people.
I have had nothing but wonderful experiences every time I have seen Dr. Brusca.
My OBGYN was Dr. Brusca. He and his colleague, Dr. Mar, delivered my baby via C-section at 36 weeks and they did an excellent job with the delivery. With that said, I did have some significant issues with the practice throughout my pregnancy, primarily with the administrative staff and the ultrasound technician. My very first visit to the office, my appointment was cancelled and the admin staff did not have my correct phone number, therefore I never received a phone call about the cancellation. A handful of my routine appointments were cancelled throughout my pregnancy which I can’t get mad about because it was due to the doctors getting called out for other women’s deliveries. The other major issue with admin staff was for my 20-week appointment when the anatomy scan is performed. The staff informed me when I showed up for my appointment that I wasn’t on the schedule and therefore had to go to a different location a few weeks later because they could not fit me in at their office. Overall, I think the admin staff needs to improve their communication skills to help them get more organized to avoid some of these issues that I experienced. My greatest issue with this practice lies with the ultrasound technician, Nora. At our 16 week appointment, Nora asked my husband and me if we wanted to know the sex of our baby. We said yes, and Nora told us we were having a girl, but then she said, “I could be wrong.” We chose not to share this news with family until after the anatomy scan so that we could be sure what the sex was. At our anatomy scan appointment, the sex of the baby could not be confirmed due to the baby not being in a good position. Therefore we attended a second ultrasound with Nora at the office around week 25. Nora told us again that we were having a girl. Flash forward to the day our baby was born… we had a boy. This was VERY shocking news since we had planned on having a girl (decorated girl room with girl clothes at home) and we had told all of our family and friends that we were having a girl. Because of this mistake, we had to rely heavily on friends and family to provide us with boy clothes for when we returned home because we had absolutely none. What really upset me though, was the day after baby was born, Dr. Brusca stated he spoke to Nora about the mistake on our baby’s gender, and she told him that she told us we were having a boy. This was absolutely NOT true. I would have so much more respect for this practice if Nora, and Dr. Brusca would have just acknowledged that a mistake was made and offered an apology. Having a baby is stressful enough, and our baby was premature, AND our baby ended up being a boy when we were told it was a girl. I would not wish my experience on anyone else who decides to pursue this practice for their OBGYN care.
Dr Busca does not follow-up with patients; even pregnant ones! He does not order appropriate tests--like pregnancy ultrasounds amidst complications, even when requested by the patient. His nursing staff are rude, dismissing and either they don't communicate with the doctor or Dr. Brusca blows everything off. You have to wait on hold to reach a nurse in excess of 45 minutes sometimes! He overbilled me for a routine office exam by $450 and dealing with Dupage Medical Group to rectify has taken over 20 phone calls--escalated now to corporate after attempting to deal with the supervisors in the billing department, my concerns have been ignored for over a month. Dupe Medical Group is a nightmare to deal with on top of the issues with Dr. Brusca's office staff. He's a nice guy, but I don't need a nice guy-- I need a good doctor! They have questionable practices and don't sterilize their speculums between patients!! Literally 10 USED speculums sitting in a kids' sand bucket on the counter!?! After inquiring about that--he told me "that area isn't sterile anyway". I said, "I realize, but the speculums should be sterilized between patients!" Needless to say, I took my pregnancy to another physician and could not be happier. I would avoid this office and the nightmare Dupage Medical Group is--anywhere else is a better option. They have terrible hours--like 10am to 2pm, 3 days a week! The answering service told me at 3pm "we don't have a Dr. Brusca that works here"??!! Simply said: AVOID!
Dr Brusca is the most compassionate and patient doctor. He delivered all three of my kids with my last being a risky delivery and he handled it with excellence and professionalism and walked me through things. - Gina K
Dr. Brusca in one word is an "Amateur". He completely jumped the gun and referred me to a cancer specialist for a simply ovarian cyst. My belief was he didn't want to be bothered. He is only interested in delivering babies. He doesn't follow up with his patients and over worries a patient for no reason. I would recommend seeking a real professional in this field before using him as an physician.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
