List of Advocate Children's Hospital's Reviews
My son was admitted this week and the treatment that we got was excellent. The nurses and doctors were caring and compassionate who genuinely seemed to care. Thank you for everything you did for my baby!!
WORST children hospital in COUNTRY, they put my son on tube feeding which was so unnecessary it was purely for the purpose making a sell. They autorities need to shut this scam down now!
Horrible at best. The kid needs urgent medical care and they freaking say they got a 3 hr wait time... There are hardly 4-5 families here (including kids) and the wait time is freaking 3 hrs?? Some have been seen already, are waiting on their covid results in the GENERAL WAIT AREA!!! Freaking Horrible. Why the hell are they saying its a emergency room when there is a wait of 3 hrs for less than 12 patients including the ones that are waiting for covid results.... Horrible, Horrible, Horrible ... Bloody Horrible!!!
Don’t take your child or anyone else here!! Their administration is poor!!!! They will not send you a bill, they’d rather send your bills to a collection agency! I never had any dealings with a collection agency until I took my son here. They claimed they sent me bills but all false! I was at their hospital severally and they NEVER mentioned any outstanding outside insurance, only for a collection agency to call me for a meager $50! Brazen!!!
This place is terrible. If you have a child that is sick. Go somewhere else. The wait times and lack of staff suck. Trust me. I can’t get answers over the phone. I’m done and I’m moving my child to a better hospital tomorrow.
Not happy at all- I feel I leave with no answers or copies of reports from xrays or labs, if they do labs. I find they do bare minimum. I was hopefully they would be better but I did the staff to be very inconsistent, some seem knowledgeable others seem clueless and other seem to just triage and give no solutions or plans. We were there for almost 5 hours with post complications for my son, and tHey gave one dose of pain meds and one dose of antibiotics. To get those meds down they literally help you son down and shoved it in his mouth. Two nurses did this- I was holding him but didn't expect the sneak attack on newly operated child. For the antibiotics which my son was very upset about taking (hence why were there), she literally shoved it in his mouth made him choke to where he threw up and he had a tonsillectomy 6 days ago and has blood in it. And the wrapped him in blanket to get rest down to show me how I would have to do it at home- that was reason we came, he was refusing to take them and I thought we get a better do no harm solution. Second reason we went in was for constipation and to rule out obstruction, they have my son no constipation meds, a paper that said all the things I already had done and nurse acknowledged that, nobody looked at his anus to see if he has a fistula or hemorrhoid, I was so upset I was shaking and exhausted as this has been going on for nights and days now- I really expected an advocate or some help but got some bullshit!! My son has woken up now crying twice screaming your are hurting me you are hurting my feeling which is exactly what he said to said nurse who should be reported. Plus, it's dirty. Dust bunnies in waiting room and bathrooms that patients use. Condescending attitudes. Shameful- so much need for children's hospital in suburbs and this is crap we have.
Is it possible to give zero stars? My 2 year old arrived with a fever of almost 102 and extreme vomiting. Doctor Gina Palm provided "care" for him and only gave him medication to stop the vomiting. She said fever medication wasn't necessary. However, she said that if the fever continued within two hours, then we should take him to the emergency room. If the vomiting continued within two hours, we should take him to the emergency room. If he didn't use the bathroom within two hours we should take him to the emergency room. Ok Gina let me just drive 45 minutes back home, sit at home for 30 minutes, and drive back shortly after. Not to mention she didn't smile once, she cut us off many times (she likes having the final word), she told us to walk away, and she just overall wasn't a pleasure to work with. I'm just a few months away from graduating in healthcare management. We focus on service, staff, patient care, etc. I would hate to have someone like her working for me. She was even giving the other family across from our room attitude too!!!!
Our children have been treated by neurology, dermatology and plastic surgery. We have 3 boys and they all have different conditions. We really liked the dermatologist who referred us to a plastic surgeon who treated our son for a skin condition. They have both left advocate as have many other good physicians over the past 2 years. 2 of our sons are being treated by neurology. One of the physicians who was filling in for another while our regular one was away on vacation was incredibly rude. She knew little about our cases (understandable since she doesn't normally treat them) but she cared to learn what I had to say as their mother. She treated one of our young fellows very sternly in response to him having difficulty sleeping. We had been letting him come into our bed because we had just moved to a new home/school and I thought he was anxious. Fine if she wants to be firm with me but not him. We have found the phone system to reach the physicians very problematic. My husband and I both have very busy/stressful jobs. I am able to get to refilling the fellows prescriptions on the weekends. I have explained that our insurance will only cover 90 day Rx's. They would continually only fill for 30 days. The pharmacy told me many times that the prescription they had COULD be filled for 90 days. Recently, they were put on a controlled substance. I was traveling for 2 weeks. When I checked their meds today (Saturday) they were nearly out. I called the pharmacy who said that I had to call the physician to have it called in. I did and was put into a phone cue. When I spoke to the person who answered. She was rude and I had a feeling she would not page the department. 4 hours later, she hadn't. When I reached the physician, she was rude and said that they only refill these types of Rx's on the weekdays. Bottom line, Advocate's processes are completely not right. If they are going to claim to be a Children's hospital, they need to have the proper systems in place to support busy families who have children with diagnosis that are complex and who don't just need assistance on the weekdays. As convenient as Advocate is, we will be moving back to Lurie's.
Long waiting lines and emergency room I cut my finger I was bleeding I spent the entire night so instead of a doctor I have a trainee to try to stick my finger he drop everything on the floor.she said to me he has to learn someway I told him I'm not the guy that you're going to learn and I never had stitches before so I was yelling for a doctor and eventually one showed up and did the job in under five minutes besides that this is a good hospital
My mom had a successful open heart surgery here and the doctors are great. The stand out I must say are the nursing staff. They're fantastic from the patient care techs to the nurses along with staff that deliver your food and the staff that pick up the garbage. Customer service here obviously was taught well and practiced until perfect. My mom was admitted at northwest community a month prior to this admission and the nursing staff here at advocate was like night and day. Northwest needs to send their people here to learn how to do it right. Keep up the great work ALGH!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
